  1. I know they have some very good search managers working with the police, both military and civilian, the search areas will constantly be evolving as the search continues. Its is a very simple tested and repeatable formula when searching for anything: POS= POA x POD - pos-probability of success as a percentage. poa - probability of area. pod-probability of detection. Basically the probability of success will never ever reach 100%, at best you will only get a 90% POS, I cant be arsed to type all the factors etc, But searching for missing people is a very difficult task that takes masses
  2. Nice shooting Zini Fry: If you fill to the recommended 190 bar you will have around 20 shots to zero before the shoot, then your right on the sweet spot for the next 40 shots, they will all be at the same ftlbs, give or take half ftlb. Your zero will be pretty much the same. Once you get past the 40th shot youll be down to around 130bar or as low as 110 bar and your point of impact (POI) will rapidly start to drop. Dont go below 100 bar as you will run the risk of getting a pellet stuck in the barrel. The sweet spot on mine is 170 down to 130 bar on the rifles gauge, which is not accu
  3. I think thats a very nice price indeed, pumps are about £140 odd on their own. I just got a new s410 carbine and the gun on its own was £510. Enyoy it mate Im chuffed to bits with mine. Get 1.5" ish groups at 45m with AA diablo field in 5.52 size.
  4. Top tip with the aluminium, not heard that one before, 1 point given
  5. Hi Matt, yea it does if its wet, thats why I said 'if stored dry', should have added the 'brass does not degrade comment in with the first bit
  6. You wont go wrong with a 3-9 times mag for air rifle shooting distances, you could go up to 12 x mag for those longer shots. Bushnell glass is pretty good, and Simmonds blazer 3-9x50 scopes are a damn good buy with very bright optics, had one on my HW80 and it was a great scope.
  7. Have a look at this list as it may well be very usefull, most MOD ranges will now be used by only 1 or 2 civilian rifle clubs, its not possible/very difficult to get private access to mod ranges for personal shooting even if your serving or ex-forces. nra
  8. Yea midges in Scotland can make many people run from the hills and mountains!
  9. A snippet of knowledge about old munitions - 1940's onwards battle ammunition had their primers sealed by a coat of laquer, shelf life if stored dry is indefinate. In the past I have shot defence and military munitions with head stamp dates in the 1950's all with no problem. I have heard of people shooting munitions yrs old with no problem. So long as its stored dry and the primer doesnt get contaminated they will fire. Brass doesnt degrade. Cheers Mark
  10. I religously wipe my whole gun down after use, with an old rag splashed with 3-in-1, oh and a drop of napier gun oil that I got as a free sample. 3-in-1 was originally developed as a gun oil, I wont pay extra for branded gun oils with an added 'nice smell' stuff that
  11. The firearms teams dont get issued a large amount of rounds, cant say how many as thats not cricket But Im sure a few extra wouldnt go a miss with some of the UK's forces!
  12. Thanks Davey, I was a bit disapointed, after all Ive only been on the darkside for a month now and was expecting very tight shots, better than above, there were some pellet on pellet. I did notice that the gun likes a firm grip and the shots pull in tighter. On a different note I was thinking of getting in to hunter field target, and you know what, theres no clubs listed in North Wales at all.... think I may be off to try and rent some land and set a course up and try to make a small profit
  13. Same as most of the above .22 AA diablo field in 5.52 size.
  14. All is well spent about 3hrs at the range and zero was no problem, nor was crossover, so Im happy about that. Zerod at 45m and managed to get 1.5" ish groupings, there was a breeze all day that was hard to compensate for, and I had the odd flyer too. Even managed to get consistent hits of a 3" tin at yds Square boxes are 1.5" and the inner diamonds are 1". AA diablo field .22 16gr.
  15. Ill be off down the ranges tomorrow and give it a whirl and let you know how it went, cheers for the words of advice lads.
  16. Right, the odds look good,so, Bill, Ill have a 'purple one' at 10-1, that way that will cover the price of the gun only when he sells it, Is paypal OK
  17. I realy enjoyed my HW80 and miss it, price wise as marko says, Id say up to £200 with an average scope for a perfect original condition gun, If its been' played with' and not in good condition you may be lucky to get £50.
  18. Well I was just topping up the tank for some targets and as I was giving the gun an inspection pre shoot I saw with horror that the rifle barrel wasnt lined up central on the body of the gun Now I dont know how this has happened as Im pretty carefull etc etc, but I had to undo the 2 allen screw bolts on the barrel fig of 8 shaped bracket, they werent overtight, and then let the barrel release back to its normal position, it must have been twisted over to the left by about 8-10mm!!!!!!. Im wondering if it wasnt fully tight when it left the factory and that the fig 8 bracket has slowly crep
  19. I know nothing about them, but pyramidair gave them some good reviews: http://www.pyramydair.com/p/evanix-blizzard-S10-air-rifle.shtml
  20. Ah beat me to it - so will have to use the trusted advice " dig hole - put dead body in - fill with quick lime - cover hole - go to pub" Squirrel, rabbit, pigeon, magpie all good to eat if slow cooked and put in a pie - bloody yummy. The only thing I leave in the fields is the stomach, intestines and lungs. Liver, heart, brains and other stuff just add to the flavour I keep the fur for making winter gloves. Ive eaten some pretty rank things in my time, crow tastes about as bad as can be, so they just go in the refuge bin. Fox is ok if you beat the hell out of the meat before
  21. its been forwarded to many on my 'jokes list' and daresay it will be round the world by dinner time
  22. Nice one. Home bargains is a great place sometimes. I had seen that rubber matting stuff, that you can cut to shape and then put on your dash board, parcel shelves etc and it stops things rolling around and flying all over the place when going round bends etc, I popped in to Home Bargains and they had 2m by 1m lengths of it for £1.99, in Halfords Im sure it was about £10!
  23. Making a focusing system for a diy laser isnt so bad, any small cheap rifle scope would have suitable lenses in it for use with a laser diode. As for the green wavelength and its visibility, I do remember a youtube clip of a guy spooking a rabbit with a new generation green laser pointer, that sums it up for me. They were originally military designators for pistols and subcompacts and as such are great for CQB and FIBUA, for night time hunting I would save my money and get a decent nv rifle scope as if this green laser was meant to be used for that application the military wouldnt be using
  24. Hmmm, Iron sights can be tricky, the way used to do it in army was, rifle in fixed position, shhot at large target, then with out moving the rifle from the position it was in when the shot was taken! adjust the windage so the sight droped in line with the point of impact, then did the same with the elevation, however we used to be able to slide the sight forwards and backwards a click at a time on the base plate. To move the line of sight DOWN (the shot hit BELOW the point of aim) the REAR sight is RAISED or the FRONT sight is LOWERED. To move the line of sight UP (the shot hit ABOVE the
