  1. Hi Smiffy, Thanks for the advice about 'best fit' makes sense, also about going for a 28" MC. Im a member on PW,but dont been on there for months, will have a browse. Thanks Mark
  2. Sorry I hijacked with my comments for Zini, Right, I have been using a Hawke scope for a while now and I like it just fine, great clear optics for the price. However, I think if were to change scope, personally I would go for a non-parralax adjustable, variable power, that I can just zoom in and out and not have to faff around with focusing all the time as I use a laser range finder and dont need to use the scope for parralax rangefinding now, So for me the next scope will be a fixed objective variable zoom and then just use a mildot reticle for hold over/under, job done.
  3. Hi all, So, Im waiting for the license to arrive and now Im looking around, reading the mags and trying to weigh up what to buy. Ill be shooting a mixture of clays, for practice, and also crows, pigeons for pest control and would also like to do a bit of game shooting as well. So Im after a shotty thats a good all rounder, 2nd hand or new, but my budget is no more than £650. I know this topic has probably come up loads of times before, I have had a search through the forums and red a few bits here and there, anyway, all advice greatfully received lads. Thanks Mark
  4. ZINI, Eh up bud, see you have a new 'forget-me-not' picture Nice one, is that a going away present then? As you would expect from an ex-squaddy I have allready saved your girls picture to 'my pics' then photo-shop it on to a naked body then forwarded it to all my mates in the sand pit, with a mesage that its Zini's missus Take care. Mark
  5. hahah, classic especial for arrons name of pigeon-plucker Sorry Arron, cheap gags aside, I havent got a clue about them, to be honest I could do with a little bit more length of pull on mine, I suppose you could measure the extra distance you need, pop the original off, add some suitable packing and glue the pad back on? Or in true 'self-suffcient' style, re-model and ammend using gaffa tape Crap answers I know, specially as you want an off the shelf adjustable one, 'butt' hey atleast its taken the heat off your butt-plu...sorry butt-pad post!
  6. Round nosed router bits for inletting the stock, lots of different widths available to suit?: http://www.rutlands.co.uk/power-tools-&-accessories/router-cutters/round-nose/TR174/round-nosed-bits Then just get the blank spirit level flat to top edge/or how you want it to sit, then make a parallel router guide so you take out the middle perfectly parallel to the centre line of the stock.
  7. Superb stuff bud, measure, measure, measure. What are you going to use to get the relief correct for bedding the action in?
  8. Nice gun and sling, welcome to THL.
  9. Emailed my response to the inquiry today and also to BASC. I did however think that some of the answers that BASC had put forward to the inquiry questions weren't that strong, some answers I personally thought were also not relevant to the question, especially as they were 'prompting' answers for consideration in use for members replies. Hopefully those that have taken the time to send their thoughts to the inquiry, will have put forward their own well balanced answers to the key questions. I couldnt find anything about this on the CA website, as i did want to see what they thought
  10. Hawke scopes - good glass and very bright optics for the price, having looked through some expensive glass in my time, i wouldnt fault them.
  11. Cheers Sweeney I know what she wants for Xmas allready...a shotgun shell belt/bandoleer!!!! Bloody scary mate, when I moved in with her I brought my bergen packed full of old photos and kit etc and stuffed it in a cupboard. I came home one day and she had black stuff all over her face...yep, charcoal, she had dressed up in my dpm's and also opened an nbc suit and put that on with an avon gas mask, she was fully kitted up and had put everyhting on, kevlar helmet and body armour, gas mask, tactical webbing, she had been through all my photos and had also rummaged out some more, erm 'gucci' item
  12. Yup, welcome back to airpower
  13. Phantom is getting to be quiet the king of 'one liners' and should apply to be a moderator with his exshellent grama
  14. Hi Sweeny, I know what you mean about pellet weights, in chairgun I used to use 16gr as the average for the AA diablo fields, but once the guns on the chrono its apparent that the average is more like the stated weight, 16.3gr. I did also try some Daystate in 5.5, they did group closer than the AA 5.51(which my gun likes better than the 5.52)out to 30yds, after that they realy opened up with 2-3" groups and some flyers at 50yds. So at the moment Im all settled on AA diablos in 5.51 and I have to say Im really getting in to long range paper shooting I have another confession... the sho
  15. Yes I realy did use a very small drop of washing up liquid, then well rinsed and dryed bone dry with hairdryer, then the lightest of coatings with wd40, I have a mate who shoots field target and this is what they do to get better consistency. I have now cleaned the barrel and treated with a light coating of 3-in-1 oil as recommended by AirArms. Groupings have tightened up and all is good, I was at the range yesterday and had 1 1/4" groupings at 85yds with variable wind. So all is good and solid at 11.5ftlbs again. Mark
  16. On the spring there is a metal block with a chamfered slot in the middle, this slot is where the locking mechanism drops in to, from what I remember on my old Meteor, this black fits inbetween the spring coils, and can also be wound forwards or back wards, So, you may have inadvertently moved a touch, I thinks its not possible for you to have the locking block 180 degrees out as it needs to sit in the long slot on the bottom of the spring housing, hope this helps. Mark Another thought - if there is any grease on that locking block - get it off as this will stop the catch working, or as yo
  17. Well this was a pretty good event for its first at this venue, I only went on Saturday and there was a fair old turnout, So I guess Sunday, being very warm and sunny, would have been a lot busier. Hopefully the ticket sales were good enough to encourage other traders to book stands for next years show, if there is going to be one. Plenty of shooting on offer all day long, great coaching from the BASC team and the 'pool shoot' was also good fun with some very tricky clays. I think that they needed to change the time slots for some of the displays as I know they left the terrier/lurc
  18. I have the same gun in .22. I have been using the same pellets as well in 5.52mm size, now getting 1" groupings at 50yds. Have a search through the forums as there are plent of threads about different peelets in the AA range of guns. Cheers Mark
  19. Hahaha, wrong choice of words, hand on post with rifle resting in hand Your just too quick mate! and Im tired after spending the day climbing and scrambling in the rain. Off to the Bala, North Wales game fair this weekend, and let out fustrations of not having time to shoot the past few weeks, going to get some clays smashed on the BASC shoot.
  20. Good stuff mate, I trust your going to put them on a certain auction site as they would make great xmas presents and you could just burn the dvd's on demand. ATB Mark
  21. Stick with HW original parts, or as mentioned a Bonnie&Clyde kit.
  22. Hi Tat' I had a HW80, its one of the best, if not the best hunting springer about, but, and its a big but it has the following draw backs: 1/ Its a heavy gun at 4kg without scope etc 2/ This is a very hold sensitive gun - By that I mean you will get a different point of impact when shooting from a prone position to resting it on a fence post or on a tree and a different point of impact when shooting free standing, once you get used to that its a great gun. If was going to buy another HW I think I would go for a 90 or a 98, the 90 is a gas ram and has a little less recoil than the s
  23. Ive had this scope for a few months now, Hawke sidwinder 30 tactical in 4.5-14x42. First off its a long scope at 14 3/4" so bear that in mind when choosing this for a break barrel or you may well end up in tears as the scope is midranged priced! Plus if you decide to you the supplied screw on sunshade, that adds another 4" The solution to this sunglare in scopes is to fit an ARD - 'anti reflective device', I've used these on 'things' when I was in HM Forces and they are superb bits of kit. Made by a company called' Sungard' you choose a size that fits inside you flip open covers, th
