    AA s410

Flipping heck, a bargain of the month without a doubt!
  2. Great stuff, sharp tools and little bits at a time as you get near to finished, measure twice cut once, enjoy mate. Personally I havent got the patience, I did try to make a stock about 15 years ago, lets say woodwork just aint my best subject
  3. I havent tried H&NFTT on the range, my hw80 loved them as well as the Premier Ultras. Just put 3 H&NFTT through the chrono - 9.5ftlbs and 8.9ftlbs for the Premier Ultras, so well down on power compared to AA diablos in 5.52, Also they felt very clunky when pushing the bolt home. Im going up the ranges tomorrow and will definately get a tin of AA 5.51 to try out. Chrono I use is Combro cb 625. Cheers Mark
  4. Boots - There is a terrier/lurcher show http://countryfairnorthwales.co.uk/SioeCwnDogShow.aspx
  5. Thanks Bob, thats interesting, Il bear that in mind if they have them in stock at my local shop, I did try some Premier ultra magnums - 14.3 but they didnt give very good groupings. Cheers though for that, its always interesting to hear what slugs are getting the best results with their particular rifle. Cheers Mark
  6. Welcome IRHunger. There was no need to intoduce race related thoughts on these pages as most dont give a whatsamodoo where you are from or what colour you are. We are all here to share our love of shooting and hunting. Enjoy the forums and once again, welcome. ATB Mark

  8. Well done, great stuff on the new permission, may the acres just keep coming in
  9. Completely the right thing to do.
  10. Thanks for the advice and thoughts chaps, Ill go back to square 1 and get some fresh slugs, running low anyway. Im going to get a tin of AA diablo 5.51 and 5.52 for comparison, as the groupings with 5.52 at 45m were around 1.5"ish and I was expecting much tighter groups: Diamonds are 1", squares are 1.5" http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/gallery/image/18264-45m-target-groupingsjpg/
  11. All I did was wash in soapy water, then hair dryer on kitchen paper and a very quick pass over with wd40, giving just the lightest of coatings to the pellets.
  12. Hi All, I have had my s410 .22 for a few months now. Chrono from new was 10.5 lowest to 11.49 highest. I have put around 1000 aa diablo fields through the gun now and chronoed it today. Basically not very impresses as the highest it got over a string was 10.46. At a full 190bar charge it used start at 10.98 and start rising to a sweet spot start at 160bar. Now its down to 10.13 at 190 bar and stays at a pretty consistent 10.5 ish all the way down to 130bar. Basically it seems I have lost 1ftlb. The FPS is also down from a high of 560, now at 543fps. The only thing I ha
  13. Congratulations, enjoy the sport and hopefully youll get more permissions off the back of this one. ATB
  14. A nice shot indeed , what the heck! wheres my new avatar????
  15. I wouldnt get worked up about it...do you really think that an employee at FB would even bother to register a user name like 'facebook' to trawl through forums?? All the social networking sites use the same searchbots and webcrawlers as the major search engines and they definately dont have to register for a username etc. Its probably just some young un who thinks its fun to have that username
  16. I have to admit, I didnt bother to watch the vid, as I knew what my thoughts were just from reading the post. I have just watched the vid, and only have one comment to make, the poster is Gunvidder and he knows his stuff and also has some very interesting videos, worth a look are the camo comparison vids. http://www.youtube.com/user/gunvidder
  17. Basically Jac, you need 1" diameter mounts for that particular scope. The are 3 different mount heights, low, medium and high. High mountsa re for scopes with and objective lens diamter of 50mm plus. Low mounts usually cover scopes from 20mm to 38mm dia. Medium mounts cover scopes from 38 - to about 45mm diam. Thats the very basics of scope mounts, however: Its quite subjective as it all depends on where your eyeball is when you put your cheek on the rifle stock and have the gun in a comfortable holding position. Lets say your eye sits 40mm above the top of the rifle barrel,
  18. An idea of the scope you want to mount would be great.
  19. Got to agree Phantom, your new pic is quite, well, loaded with, pride of your winning trophy plus a mixture of a stereo-typical 'guns & ammo' magazine pose! plus you look a little familiar.....its a long shot but have you ever worked on the CP/PMC circuit?
  20. BSA Meteor in .177, It was my 1st gun, I still have it, although its going to get a winter project'refresh'. Very good on targets and plenty of power for hunting at short ranges, plus they are nice and light.
  21. Well done mate. Its great to read others tales on the shoot, especially since my workload is massive at this time of year and Im not getting chance to go out as much Have good fun teaching the scouts how to prepare the bunnies
  22. Yep, agree with Phantom on this, even with the supersoft AA diablo fields there is hardly any expansion, I pulled one out of a rabbits head the other day and it only had a nick in it and a bit of bone, the pellet skirt had shrunk slightly and had a few creases in it.
  23. Enjoy the gun, I have one in .22 and love the accuracy. I have the standard AA moderator fitted and its plenty quiet enough. Pellet on pellet groupings at 60yds, thats very good indeed, although I havent tried any pellets other than AA 5.52 im getting sub 1" groups at 50yds, it will soon e time f to get some more slugs so might try a tin on AA 5.51 and see if the groupings get tighter. Have fun.
  24. Another way and very similar to the above is: Measure from the centre of the barrel to the outside of the barrel and make a note of this. Then measure the from the very centre of your scopes objective lens to the top of the barrel. Add the two measurements together and you have the height above the centre of the barrel to the centre of objective lens. Now I have chosen this example because the top of the barrel on 'most' rifles, regardless of whether they are break barrel or not, are flush with the top of the rifles 'receiver' or rifle body, so you can just drop a ruler on the
