  1. Well its been an eventful couple of days, more like a week or so realy. I bought a HW80 some years ago and have had very happy hunting times with it. I decided to treat myself to a new scope and got a Hawke Tactical 4.5-14x42, then new mounts - DM70 Sportsmatch dampa mounts. All fitted and off to the range, very happy indeed, then I had a go on a few PCP rifles that some guys were shooting with and was pretty much hooked on the easy accuracy, especially as I was getting the same groupings with my HW80 as they were minus the recoil! On the way from the range I popped in to the onsite gun
  2. Hi, I got a great pair shipped, tax free, from Opticsplanet.com, Vortex Hurricane 8x28, For a compact pair of bins the glass is pretty fast with a very bright picture,Im very happy with them and have used various bins over the years, from cheap crap through to Bausch, Good price, good glass, compact and light, job done
  3. Well, I finally settled on a 1 piece Sportsmatch dampa mount - d70. I fitted the mount and scope on Saturday with only one hiccup along the way: Windage adjustment wasnt to far out from optical centre, However, I did run out of elevation adjustment! Remedy was "the old school way" of re-opticaly centering the cross hairs ie set them to the midpoint of adjustment, then used some old camera film negative cut in to the correct size to fit in the bottom of the scope mount, I ended up using 3 pieces stacked on top of each other to get the scope zeroed in with only a small amount of elevatio
  4. Hi There, Just a speculative enquiry as I live in Snowdonia and Im after permissions for the odd rabbit for the pan,22 air rifle, would this be a possibility on your shoot land? Feel free to PM me for info about me. Thanks in advance Mark
  5. I had a look at those, maybe my question seemed a bit lame the way I typed it? I suppose the question is: one piece or 2 piece mounts? Fixed or adjustable? Who has bothered with adjustable mounts, so that the scope is centred before you have to start adjusting clicks for elevation and windage or do you guys just put fixed mounts and then put a heap of clicks on the elevation to zero and then use hold over/under on the reticle at different distances? Cheers Mark
  6. Hi All, I have just got a new scope - Hawke sidewinder tac 4.5-14 x 42 and need to get new mounts - 30mm. These need to be fitted to a HW80. the rail length on the HW80 is around 135mm to the recoil pin hole so I could get 1 piece or 2 piece mounts. The question is which mounts will work best and is it worth getting adjustable mounts? Thanks in advance Mark
