Starting Dog Pre Ban With No Pilot
shaaark replied to South hams hunter's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
  f****n belter!! Trying to write this with tears rolling down my face!! -
Lol, yeah I suppose it's a bit of hard work defining it simply. I see a few different qualities/attributes in a dog, and sometimes struggle to find words to describe them, as an example, I'll be out with my lad, 23, and the dogs, and he'll make some remark about em, and it'll be the same thing we mean but worded differently, probably just different way of describing stuff these days, cos I certainly never heard half of what he says when I was his age lol

Is 'prey drive' the same thing as hunting instinct? Genuine question

I enjoy watching the dogs eat, besides feeling satisfied that they're getting good nutrition, I find it very theraputic

Yep, exactly as you say, older bitch my lad's got, plenty of roadwalking, easily 40 + miles per week, walked twice a day, apart from days/nights she gets worked, along with free running etc in fields and working, never seems to make any difference to her nails, especially on front paws, constantly taking very small amounts off them, roughly every 2 weeks, they grow very quickly and you can't do too much in one go as she also hates having it done. Dunno if it's the deerhound in her, but she's got some of the strongest nails I've seen, strong but a pain to keep on top of Does it affect he

Am aware of that, and not thinking that was aimed at me, but she has really good, strong, well formed feet with no injuries, as yet, but hardly wears anything off them, no matter the amount of roadwork etc

Think I remember that too, no point asking me to do anything concerned with links, putting up pics etc, I can click on a link if someone puts one up but that's about it, me and technology don't really click!

I thought there are quite a few good bedlingtons down your way, a member on here 'swanseajack' I think, wrote articles in the terrier section on this site about them, not sure how accurate those threads etc were, never been much of a bedlington fan, but they're starting to interest me

shaaark replied to Kemperz21's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Cheers for that , skewen closed 30 years ago! The bitch I had when my son was 18 months old, he's 23 now, so I'm assuming she wasn't bought from skewen sales then lol -

I'm from Swansea, our dog track is long gone now, i might be going to a game fair up Caerphilly way in a few weeks so i'll check out Bedwellty track when we're up there I think Fforestfach is still open, pm socks he will know. TC TC, I used to go to the dogs, mainly bedwellty and ystrad mynach, as a youngster with my old man and his mate, can't remember going to other places, might have but it was a long time ago lol, but I had a very big bitch given to me about 20 years ago, supposedly bought at a sale in skewen track, would you know if that track was still in operation then? -

Fair play phil, you come out with some 'old school' pearls of wisdom, which I think would be lost on today's 'smash everything' culture, keep it up, really enjoy em

Well feck off and read another thread then no one is forcing you to read it. This is what really puzzles me "I tested my dog to the limit" great but how does anyone know what the dogs limit is until it breaks? What they are actually saying is I run my dog till I killed it. They are not machines they are flesh and blood and should be treated as such. This "jacking" lark is not new it has been going on for years and there are hundreds if not thousands of dogs that were killed over the years just to prove a point and to appease the ego of the owner. Every bit of flesh and blood has
