  1. he'll be talking about quill minnows mate, i used to use them in a dropping flood or upstream spinning at night for sea trout on the border esk, they were deadly. have a look at this link to evilbay or google "quill minnows" and you'll see what they are. if you're buying any make sure and buy them with the tail and two flying trebles as ive watched sea trout and salmon attack them from the side gripping them across. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/COLLECTION-TEN-VINTAGE-QUILL-MINNOWS-/190381626821 atb alan.

  4. hi mate, thats a difficult one, what one person considers early others dont but in all honesty you would probably do better to spend your morning watching all the fields available to you and establish which one will shoot on that day because pigeons are very fickle birds, ive looked a field full of them on a friday and saw next to nothing when shooting it on saturday.this time of year you'll probably shoot bigger bags from around lunchtime into early evening if youve done your homework as morning flights can be short lived. hope this helps. atb and good luck. alan.

  7. Couldnt find a roe pic how convenient as can be seen from this taken from the same site as your pic a shoulder shot on a roe is marginal for hitting vitals, very little room if the shot goes forward. professionals ??? AW's ?? dont make me laugh !!!

  17. Went out tonight with a mate gav243 from this site on one of his permissions local to us looking for a buck that we had seen again during the does and was getting a bit past it, Gav had left him for a few years to propogate his genes but this year his time had come. Gav and I have seen him a few times since the start of the season but he’s always won the battle of wits either being in a place where there was no shot or he’s winded us while standing unseen and barked letting the whole valley know our intention. We set off tonight full of hope, it was a great night to be out, warm, touch of
  18. same effect yes but which one would you prefer to take a second shot on if it went bad................. not my cup either.
  19. John, i cant agree with the above either, if compulsory testing ( as will be steam rollered in up here in scotland )has your vote then why dont guys such as yourself offer training for free? or like many are you willing to jump on the basc/bds/dcs gravy train and ride it as long as you can? as posted previously my mates and i did our level 1 but only because we felt we had to before we were forced into it and probably a massive price hike to boot to be able to be on the much vaunted "approved list", luckily in scotland grant funding is available for level 1 so it cost us next to nothing and wh
  20. i have level 1 ( did the course in november with your mate mal at eskdalemuir ) looking to do level 2 this winter on the does. Did it purely as i believe that when DCS get there way in parliament you will need at least both if you want to continue stalking in scotland atb alan.
