  1. hi all, headed out foxing tonight with my mate to a permission very local to me ( actually about 10 mins away ) its mainly a sheep farm with a small syndicate shoot on it. we've been there a few times lately and never seen much but tonight we saw more than i've ever seen in one night. i stopped the car at the bottom of the entrance road as i usually do to sort out lamp and rifle then we drove slowly up the road toward the big house spotting a fox in the first field right on top of the hill so no safe shot i stopped and gave it a squeak but it wandered away oblivious so we made on, two fields
  2. fkin hell they holy-max dae some damage atb alan
  3. well done local, thats a cracking malform and well done T for giving local the invite atb alan.
  4. first class account mate, felt like i was there with you atb alan.
  5. great post and pics John, pass my condolences on to Malcolm. really nice quiet unassuming guy, met him last november at eskdalemuir when we did our level1 atb alan.
  6. nice one murph, two good shots keep it thum atb alan.
  7. nice one Martin our FEO's in Lothian and Borders are decent guys aswell. what's the second 243 for night vision for charles perhaps ? atb mate alan.
  8. agree with above mate, i have this scope in 25mm tube and to be honest having looked through both i dont see the advantage in the 30mm tube, its just extra cost. this mag is easily enough to shot fox sized targets out to 300yds ( and more in daylight ) get one mate you wont be disappointed atb alan.
  9. when you do move it mate i would get a smith to check the crown, if the mod is stuck that solid the crown may be damaged too good luck with it alan.
  10. ive used them in the past but with varget, hodgdon site says 23-25.3 grains for 55 grain softpoint but always start lower and work up. for OAL you would be better matching that to your rifle mate. but i should state i take no responsibility for this load. atb alan.
  11. do the job right and get someone in with a deer legal centefire, if you dont know anyone i'm certain someone from the forum would help you out. they might be causing damage mate but give them a bit more respect than shooting them with a shotgun atb alan.
  12. one of the most genuine and knowledgeable guys you could meet.

  13. nice one mate, great feeling innit! only thing is your wallet will bear the brunt of it
  14. two good beasts there mate still very little activity on my permissions but surely soon, still seeing does with followers but no bucks with them atb alan.
  15. nice one Billy where in the Borders are you mate ? am no seein hardly any rutting at all around Hawick area but should be on soon. atb alan.
  16. itl will be fine mate perfectly usable but the smaller diameter exit model would give slightly better moderation but as said better than not having one and if you have or get any bigger cals you dont have to buy another mod.
  17. thats 3 of us with affliction then when i use the shotty i pick up the bird as it comes into the pattern with both eyes open then as i swing onto it i half close my left eye, this lines up the barrels but still gives you decent binocular vision but concentrates your vision into your right eye, judge your lead and fire. works for me anyway but it needs practice for it to come naturally. atb alan.
  18. well done riggers mate, thats one buck you'll always remember atb alan.
  19. only place you need a rod license in Scotland is on the border esk. the beat i fish i know the keeper well and the day salmon rod license costs more than the fkin day ticket !! its double standards though, you have to pay the rod license but they wont let you fish a sunday on the scottish beats atb alan.
  20. well done mate. there will be many more but none will matter as much as this one...... atb alan.
  21. i'm not so sure you've been given the right info mate, you had best speak to a FLO at fettes and get it confirmed. i know my local dealer would never sell me a mod without a slot on ticket, RFD's are no more qualified than you and me.....just better security and a license to make money ( at least my local is ) of course i could be talking shite until someone tells me different. atb alan.
  22. good do again and great write up T. shot looks perfect mate, glad to see you aint following recently posted deer biology pics good to see them in summer pellage, ours up here are starting to moult now but still predominantly in winter coat. is that a scrap of velvet still clinging to that tine ? atb alan.
