I had a 4ft dig yesterday morning which is deeper than average on my land, usualy somewhere between 2 ant 3 ft. I do have an old landfill site which is over 6 ft deep in places and near impossible to dig. I only ferret local and Im curious about the depth of warrens in other parts of the country, does your land dictate the kind of ferret you use? for example I like hobs that stick with rabbits until the end but Id imagine that if I was working warrens that were 6-8 ft deep Id want a ferret that didn't stick.

I have a row of what I believe are Victoria plum trees near my house, a few people seem to know theyre there though so I sometimes get beaten to it. Also have a damson tree very close, anyone any ideas what to do with them? I made a sauce which I had on ice cream once, wasn't bad.

A few of you have mentioned waiting until the cover dies back which I can understand but with the winters we have these days it makes a short season doesn't it? If Id waited last year for the cover to die down I wouldn't have started until December, then the rabbits breeding in January/February means if I was after perfect conditions Id only get a couple of months, then theres the landowners getting impatient. These days I try to work around the cover and soldier on into February regardless of baby rabbits and pregnant does.

Ill start some of the more open areas on my perms now, nothing to serious until it cools down a bit, hoping for a proper cold winter this year.

Let both the hob and jill prove themselves for at least a couple of seasons, only breed if theyre both good reliable workers.
-
I couldn't kill them either, I bred a litter this year and was debating culling the kits I didn't need for my own team but couldn't do it. I suppose the working genes would be improved if we all culled non workers but not something I could do.

I think it was the season before last when we had all the floods? I was ferreting a hill, first warren I bolted a couple then all goes quiet I locate the ferret at 3ft, dig down and find my hob on a rabbit both of them in water, pull the rabbit out and a few minutes later same thing again, don't think you can ask much more out of a ferret than going into water and sticking to a rabbit until dug to. I also have a jill that has been killing rabbits since her first session, not a big fan of jills but she restored my faith a little bit. They both bolt plenty as well of course. I bred a litter ou

I used to know of a brothel run by grandmother daughter and granddaughter, the granddaughter charged £40 for a blowjob, the mother charged £20 and the grandmother just did it for the warm drink.

There dont seem to be to many furries in those holes this time of year ... Ive done warrens which are normally full and had nothing! Think they hide in the bushes this time a year Yeah got a field of sweetcorn about 40 yards from these warrens as well so theyre probably in there.

I thought it was fleas, they do well in warm humid conditions which is why the mixy hits in September.

I went out for a very short session this morning, just to do 2 small warrens, nothing I the fist warren and only 1 in the second, I might do a few of these little sessions through August before the season starts proper. I keep thinking back to a day last season I had ferreting a long ditch, was a really hard frost, the rabbits were bolting well, had a couple of easy digs. Was one of the most enjoyable days ferreting Ive ever had. The frosty days seem so far away now.

They've just been talking about this on the big bang, not possible according to them.

The fuzzy brigade are bonkers time wasters dreamers and animal collectors change the ad to working ferrets , atb j I put bred from good working ferrets in the ad but youre right was definitely a pet ferret keeper. Take the mick when people wast your time really anoys me what's the point in getting in touch with someone saying oh yeah I'll definitely have them make arrangements then never turn up?? Gets me every time?? Yeah I've got home for all mine now I've kept the two poleys coloured hob and Jill then my cousin is having one of the albino hobs and the other two albino hobs have al

Maybe youre a traditionalist slipper? If not Id go for spun poly or braided nylon.

Iv advertised the jills Im not keeping, the day the ad went on I get a call arrange a time for them to come and pick up a couple of jills and never turned up, love timewasters, she even said if I cant get there for any reason Ill call. You would think an adult could decide if they definitely want something before they arrange to come and pick up. You got homes for all your surplus yet onemanandhisdog?

I had a shared permission at one time, luckily for me the other bloke rarely ever got out and when he did he only did the easiest warrens ignoring anything big or in brambles etc.
-
I always look forward to it, I have a few open spots I might start in August.
-
Interesting one of the hobs in my litter turned out to be a sandy. Mine are 8 weeks tomorrow, Im keeping 2 hobs and theres a little poley jill Im also tempted to keep.
-
Whats et short for? Because hes got little legs lol. The universe goes on forever, there has to be life somewhere else. I have a book somewhere about ufos in ancient art. very interesting.

If having white head and feet is an indicator that a ferret has w s does that mean bews all have it? Im assuming not.

I saw that, really interesting documentary. I think bew is just a silver without any black isn't it? never seen a bew myself.
