Wild Boar Hog Roast

Ok now it's grown to 77kg boar! I think we're going to have to half it, I think the hog roaster is good to 50kg? Do I do it lengthways? HELP! Lol BBQ is Saturday and we pick the boar up tomorrow -

I'm thinking of doing the same thing so would be interested to hear people's views? Although I'd like do put in some decent shallow areas so I could get some duck flights of it aswell

Ant, best to fire the bottom barrel first. As it's in a more direct line with your shoulder, you will get less muzzle flip. If you need to get onto target you'll have an increased chance of doing so. A small difference, but can make all the differencei don't usually need a second shot ;-p lol no seriously I think the only reason I shoot top barrel first is because it's easier to take out the top cartridge if you've only fired one or swap cartridges if you spot Charlie etc

Nice to have a twin shock in the back of the garage, I had a 240 pro back in the day. I have a 350 Vesty Bultaco just as a keep sake it's the only trials bike I have left. any pics vwman? my dad has always used to go on about his 350 bultaco when we were messing with bikes as kids but ive never seen it. He said it was up at my uncles farm (probably still is) but its one of those "uncles" that's actually just your dads mate lol and I think they've lost touch now.

anybody done one before? having a BIG BBQ this sat and my brothers gone all out and got a 65KG wild boar coming! hes also bought a proper hog roaster set up (more money than sense lol) how long is going to take to cook? any tips on rubs and seasoning etc? cheers ant

I have the silver pigeon 1 also, I pissed around with chokes for a bit as it was quite new to me, having multi-choke. Think I've had the gun about 4 years maybe? And I'll bet that 3 years and 11 months it's had 1/2 and 3/4 in. Half in the top and 3/4 in the bottom and shoot the top barrel first. I find that after the first shot, what ever it is your shooting at is either dead or getting the f**k out of there lol hence the tighter choke on the second barrel. Works for me

Actually spoke to my brother now, vet said her internals all seem to be ok and he's not concerned about that. All one side of her head is swollen and one eyes shut solid but thinks she will be ok, there's a possibility she may have lost the sight in that eye but won't be able to tell until the swelling goes down so she's had a couple of anti inflammatory jabs etc and said to bring her back next week. lost a few teeth to. She's a very lucky pup! But will live she's just had 2 sirloin steaks (cut up) and is now cuddled up asleep and totally exauhsted lol Big thankyou again to the lads of here

the whole community has been on the look out for her, which is really nice since they have only been there since Monday. Sombody had spotter her but couldn't get her to come near them but they rang my brother and he went and got her

Thanks to everybody that's helped, she's been found about 2 miles away, but apparently she's not good, my brothers taken her to the vets and we're just waiting to hear what they say. Hopefully she'll be fine THANKS TO ALL INVOLVED

Well we've been all over today, had a bloke from uk deer track and recovery come and go over the area in the hope it might pick up some blood, but no joy. So on the upside I think she's alive and well but f**k no's where she's gone to? I think we've just got to hope she gets picked up by someone soon. Thanks to everybody that's helped and for the well wishes. I'll let everybody no when she's been found, whatever the outcome. Cheers ant

brothers on his way back from hartlepool now so we will be having a good look around with the other dogs this afternoon hopefully she made it thru the night and has just bunked down somewhere.
