  1. Right here goes . . . . A few months ago I applied for my FAC, and it was granted. I already hold an FAC and have done for years. When I applied for the FAC, I asked for a .17HMR and the guy came out and passed a couple of farms for it for shooting foxes in lambing fields (close range and small fields). Anyway, I have yet to buy a rifle. . . . . and in the mean time have moved and started a new job. Need a rifle for the same thing, only now the ground is very very different, the fields are much large, and the ground s much more 'shootable'. . . .I feel that a larger calibre rifle woul
  2. Jesus they've grown. You know me ow.... I want a big bitch. Haha. Looking good. I'll be up next week maybe and have a look see. @keepdigging. It's a funny one, in this case the breeding is mostly irrelevant. Not often you get offered a pup from a litter where you know the sire and dam graft 100%. I've seen the butch work a lot over the last few years, and ow has seen the sure do his thing for a long time. Both dogs have got to retirement age without ever letting their owners down. I've hunted with the dams sister and have seen that bitch do some incredible things. The pups will be well rea
  3. Anyone got any photos of adults same way bred?
  4. My bitch is basically a collie/bull/grey but with some saluki also. I blame the bad habits on the saluki! Always mused on putting the trunks dog over her one day if he was willing!
  5. Yer I've got a fairly amusing photo somewhere of one man dancing with his boar lol.
  6. USA has both. We have European boar, from both western and Eastern European blood lines. Some from France and Germany and some from Russia etc via Norway. First released in the 70s but only established a viable breeding population in the 90s. They are an amazing animal and most if te time it's a shame and pointless to kill them. At least once caught you can let them run if you want. In my eyes there's little point killing anything big, over 100killo or sows. Best of taking the 60-100 kilo eaters. The piglets are cute as hell to!
  7. Got a little over excited on one particular arable field I must admit.......
  8. Lb for lb I'd say so, probably the brains as much as anything? But I've very limited experience of dogging red stags. Would be a close call. Thinking about it the red stag may win. Who knows?
  9. It's all just theory until you actually try though isn't it?
  10. Having recently had experience of running the heavy flint ground...... No dog will go through a couple of nights without getting gashed! If boots meant you could run regular and not have dog knocked up..... Why wouldn't you?
  11. They can take a dog quite far in certain situations, move through cover extremely well for their size and can shift when they want to. But you're right they stink to a dog and in open land can be run down fairly well. But I certainly wouldn't call them easy!
  12. Any idea what they are called or where he got them from Paul?
  13. Paul - very interested in that boot idea? Recently find myself knee deep in game and all on land like a sea of broken glass!
  14. Originally way back when the first collie x's were bred, they'd have been a greyhound dog over collie bitch. I'd probably opt for a collie blooded lurcher x lurcher out of whatever two dogs were doing what I wanted of pup.
  15. If there are good fences and no blind bluffs then they are much easier killed in lamp. Most fit lurchers will be the odd one.
  16. Having been lucky enough to travel overseas and work them fairly regularly with dogs, if say they are the toughest quarry you'd find in the uk. There is also a big big difference between a little porker of 60 kilos and under and the bigger ones, especially the big boars. A 120 kilo plus tusker, can do a hell of a lot of damage to a dog in a small space of time. Lots of dogs won't meet them head on and you can't stop them without facing the front end. Know of a couple of dogs killed and twice seen a determined dog get beat to a bloody pulp. They are am amazing and awe inspiring animal and so so
  17. It's great to be able to put all your time and effort into one dog, but injury can wipe your season out!
  18. Those pups were given the very best of starts in life! Fingers crossed the new owners do them as well. Whose had one on here?
  19. 22 year old shoots four hounds, kills two. Thats why you don't give children guns. Bet the c**t was pretty close to them, doubt they were chasing the sheep, probably just lost and didn't run till he started firing at them. What a c**t.
  20. If you're near dan Doherty you won't find a better running dog vet etc
  21. Can't pm you but give me a bell over Xmas or in new year. Move for good next Tuesday.
