  1. What you thinking of lining her with Ken? Bosun - I suppose it doesn't have to be, but its much my preference, don't know why, I just struggle to get on with dogs like I do bitches. Also have two dogs here, with another on the way, and it can all get a bit testosterone fuelled at times.
  2. Ive got one weirdo saluki blooded bull collie thing here already Bosun - NAIL ON HEAD. Nice hound by the way!
  3. Get a pair of rubber gloves on, spray some of the frontline spray onto your hands and then massage it all into ferrets coat. Ticks will drop off. Feed it raw meat, and if not, get a decent ferret dried food to substitute it with. Give it a warm and dry (and draught free place to sleep) and give it some tubes or a wee ball to mess about with. Then get it a mate!
  4. Any photos of parents, what way they bred, any more info etc etc etc. . . . . .
  5. Thanks for the replies. I don't think I'm asking for much to be honest, why would you put the time and effort into finding and rearing a pup, and want anything less? Not after a first x of any kind, not my cup of tea thanks. Lurcher to lurcher would be grand, doesn't have to be any particular make up, but as said, I like what I like. As for timing, as we are in Jan, this year would be great. . . . . if you think a pup isn't going to be running much till its 12 months old and not doing any proper work till its 2. . . . . if pup isn't on ground till next summer, it'd be another
  6. Just out of interest. . . who's breeding this year, or knows of a mating. . . that would produce a good sized bitch around 25/26". Strong, fast, smart, good on a wide range of quarry, but more importantly very good at certain species day and night. Not a hare dog. Breeding not overly important, but more toward bull and collie, maybe deerhound, not so much saluki or whippet etc. Any ideas lads and ladies?
  7. Mate. . . . its shit.. . . . there's nowt else about it. You did your best for them. On the up side, you didn't lose the whole litter, so you got your pup and a couple of other lads, and more importantly the blood lives on Lets just hope your little lump becomes everything she should.
  8. Smart, takes knocks well, and a good dose of game sense and cunning. Oh, and fast enough.
  9. Probably thought it was your car T Jones
  10. As for 'unnatural selection'. . . . how the feck is it 'unnatural', human beings are a part of nature, the natural world etc, and our influence / impact upon other creatures is part of a natural evolutionary cycle.
  11. The fact that people need to ponder this and write articles about it. . . . . . makes me realise how dumb and unobservant people are.
  12. Stinking by the time it got there lol.
  13. Ill post it to you now if you like
  14. Might cure it myself, but most likely give it to a friend to tan.
  15. I had some, dogs had some and the scavengers had the rest (intestines, stomach). Skin is hung in the shed.
  16. Having a breather mate, before pud.
  17. Yer that's pretty much what everyone else said. In all honesty though, how great is it to kill a beast, feed its stomach and intestines to the scavengers and use every other part.
  18. To be fair, that looks spot on!
  19. Easiest thing is just a floating pallet or two, the shit can fall through and the ducks can float about safe. Make some spiral tube feeders for them, we used them a lot on the shoot and the worked well.
  20. I will tell you but only if I can visit!! Will get my old man to look into it D. We have just done all this for getting his dogs to Oman. Kettles on! It better be a big kettle . . . .
  21. They sure need good feet up this end of the world don't they mate ....... Yes, its horrendous. I'm still expecting a visit! Had a good day out Thursday!
  22. If I was getting one for most places, it'd be terrier x spaniel.
