  1. I'm not a computer hardman . . . . or any kind of hard man. . . . in fact I'm pretty pacifistic. However, I happen to live in a part of the world where there are a lot of head bangers with lurchers who run them wherever the f**k they like (rightly or wrongly) . . . . . . . now I'm fairly sure that if someone shot a dog for anything other than worrying stock, round these parts, said head bangers. . . . would take great delight in killing all of their live stock, burning any thing burnable and probably battering f**k out of them for good measure. . . . . I'm not saying it's right or
  2. If he did it round here. . . . it'd end up somewhat apocalyptic for him. . . .
  3. Oh yer. . . . forgot to say that. . . . if there is a man with the dog and the farmer shoots the dog. . . . well. . . . I'd say they were firing shots in my direction. . . . Bye bye F.A.C.
  4. To be honest . . . A farmer can shoot your dog if it is actually worrying livestock, and then he is meant to try other methods before he actually shoots the dog. Obviously this never happens. The farmer cannot simply shoot the dog for being on the ground, and it's even a difficult area, if the dog is in the same area as stock, but they are not being worried. . . i.e no injuries or deaths. If they do. . . they will have some serious questions to answer, unless they are real pally with the local police I guess. They can end up in court, and they can most certainly lose their F.A.C an
  5. I didn't say Valley boys were dumb. . . . or even that lurcher boys from the valleys were dumb. . . . . just that some of the dumbest folk I've met. . . . . have owned lurchers and spoken with a distinct south walian accent It's a deal on the cream cake front. . . . but it'll be you clearing up my poo from your carpet
  6. The lad does have half a point ..... In certain areas of Wales...... Begins with a v. They do seem to give lurchers out as a consolation prize when you fail an I.q test!
  7. Think he means your kin as in - the welsh! Don't worry I got one to!
  8. It's mad that they have a character on a reality show and then get upset when e guess his real views ......... However.... That fact that folk have an issue with gay people .... Is beyond me! Unless its your arse..... It's not your problem!
  9. Same as, a few partridge for call birds. 14000 on 300 acres............ Ok.
  10. Oh yer and it's 134 pages and has some really varied stories and information in it, from snaring, to coursing kangaroos, to poaching salmon and hunting hares with golden eagles!
  11. Ordered it Tuesday, and it came this morning. Great wee book, good pictures and a good read
  12. I take the dogs out, avoid the shit and no One is about!
  13. There's lies. . . . .. . . damn lies. . . . . and statistics! Oh. . . . and this thread has made them dales bunnys look easy as feck. . . . . If you had a dog catching 90% of what it ran on the land we run down here. . . . . you'd have a miracle!
  14. Aye. . . you have roe. . . . and CWD not too far!
  15. I agree with a lot of what is said. . . . but i've never really got the point of letting pups watch other dogs run. . . if bunnys are your game. When old enough and fit enough, if its bred right and its got it in it. . . . it wont matter if its seem another dog run a bunny or not. . . . it will chase it! Obviously I totally agree with all of the other stuff, teaching them gates, cars, ditches, stock, being in the dark, the rain, the lamp etc. But they aint people. . . .
  16. Wasnt it you that initially PM'd me saying you didnt like it? .. " its the worse forum, only used to sell pups and dogs at stud." ... Your above would be correct... hence why ive only put up a handful of posts... and half of them would have been about them ripping people off with £300/400+ for a pup... with the "buy cheap buy twice" sales pitch ... I initially replied to you.. explaining that i knew nothing of my pups 'lines' ... until i had her in the car... There was no sales pitch... no champion lines...no nothing... and id had her booked from a few hours old...as were
  17. so in general you need a dog to be over 50% for it to be doing its job right If i'm lamping on fair ground, where i'm slipping expecting a run, i'd want the dog for the most part, catching more than 50% of what it runs. They all get bad luck, but a decent lamp dog on fair ground (not real hard, not piss easy). . . . . i'd expect 60/70 % of what it gets up on, being caught. Having said that, we've all had nights where the dog has missed the first half dozen slips. . . Daytime is a different matter, it will vary a huge amount depending on many variables, but then it's more about
  18. Thanks for the kind words, i'll show her this thread, she'll be made up. Stabba - I do ask myself that every day mate.
  19. Depends on ground. But if in general, it was missing more than it caught. . . . i'd be asking questions.
  20. Cheers lads. Terry - We weren't in Wales mate Aye, the whippet is a handy ferreting dog
  21. She's not my wife. . . . . she's someone elses. . . .
  22. Cheers lads. RM - Aye, for a bit I was thinking someone had sold me a half x Socks - its a bitch mate, and me to
  23. Cheers lads. Aye, i've suggested she start a wee buisness, but she's not got that much confidence about the whole thing. What's the kind of going rate? Think the two she has done are about A3 size?
  24. Went out on Sunday with JB and another member off here to tackle some hedges, had a real nice day in good company, with the rabbits for the most part, playing ball. Had a couple of digs, but nothing major, and the ferrets and dogs did their jobs well. Raining heavy and still mild for December, I was stung to f**k after. All in all a relaxing day. Thanks for the sport (you know who you are) We ended on 30.
