  1. Just got to hope she doesn't run past any sheep. . . . .
  2. Original lurchers were greyhound x's. Greyhound x Herding / Droving dogs. To disguise the dogs shape and thus breed, as sight hounds were made illegal for the common man, unless they had toes removed I think. . . . .
  3. Rifles Night vision Drop boxes Rodinator VHD Mixy Flooding Over Hunting . . . . Take your pick? It doesnt help when someone finds a decent enough spot that holds a few, and spreads the word far and wide so everyone and their brother descends to rape it. . . . . Bit like the Dales And that other place . . . . . . . This website has f****d up quite a few good spots
  4. There is a big difference between work and work to a really high standard. Every man has a different level of what he needs in a dog and what he wants out of it. . . . so if you expectations are not sky high, a lot of dogs will end up working etc . . . . . . And there are of course exceptions. But i bet if you looked into it. . . . . you would find that way more really good dogs came out of working parents from proven lines. . . . than out of non working parents, where the owner relied on the dogs 'natural instinct to hunt'. . . . The natural instinct thing is quite interesting, be
  5. I didn't mean to be too harsh . . . But honestly, you don't have to be a genius to realise that there is no such thing as 'public land'. . . . and that parks and public gardens are not designated as convenient hunting preserves . . . . EVERYTHING is owned by someone. . . . whether that person objects or catches you is another matter.
  6. Yes I do and to be honest it's weak and patchy at best. Pm me and I'll give you more specific info :-)
  7. People who say there are still plenty of rabbits..... Hadn't been to the places they are thinking of in past times. Even the 'hot' spots aren't a patch on what they were....
  8. Lurcher work is f****d enough as it is. Without rabbits.... It's proper f****d!
  9. It amazes me that there is a steady stream of people thick enough to ask this! I mean..... Come on!!!
  10. As said .... Whatever your thoughts... Why wouldn't you want to stack the deck in your favour?
  11. As has been said, I do agree that a good pet home beats a bad working home hands down. But at the same time, I've seen some pet homes come unstuck, when dealing with a well bred, driven animal. . . . which has led to problems in the home and a breakdown of the home for the dog. . . . and ultimately it's been classed as a wrong un. . . . . . . . But the key I guess is 'GOOD' pet home. One that gets the score with the dog etc. However, I very much get what you are saying about the waste mate. . . . . I have seen some stunning running dogs, that never get to really run, never get to chase
  12. It does seem like double standards . . .
  13. I'll be honest and admit I've smacked my dog. Not had to make physical contact with the others, a raised voice has always been enough. But the one is a high drive little b*****d, and when young and working a wood, a lone, unexpected sheep was bushed from cover. It had been living wild and was pretty ragged. I shouted sheep, and the dog looked at me confused, as this thing disappeared through the bracken. He took off. When I got to him, he had the sheep against the fenced, luckily not doing and damaged, but swinging on it's fleece. I tried to shout him off. And he totally ignore
  14. Yer see I'd have the stock in left hand, and right hand on trigger. So with a catty, left hand on 'stock' (forks) and right hand on 'trigger' (pouch).
  15. Nice catapult. I always assumed that a right handed person held the catty in the left hand (I do). Same with bows and guns isn't it? Or am I left handed
  16. Jamaica or Wales? As awesome as our fine country is. . . . . . JAMAICA!!! Enjoy it mate and all the best to your Brother and his wife.
  17. No wife and kids are going to not like a wee cocker pup or cocker x . . . . .
  18. If it's already killed a sheep. . . . I'd say your chances are pretty slim. So you have a couple of options. Pts One last try with a collar, give her hell. A friend managed it. If she is that good, and really worth it. Never let her off a lead near sheep. Ever.
  19. And I'm fairly sure he only has this pup as he bred the litter, the others were sold, he kept his. Folk have asked him to hold onto the dog for them and let him down. So it's still there at 11 months. For 150 quid, you are getting a well bred, well reared, well socialised pup. It's grown up around stock, and on a farm. It's 11 months old, just right to start off working. And folk are knocking him? Must be a quiet night on THL.
  20. Seen this dog as a pup, and seen the dam. Also heard some very good things about it's litter brother. This lad has bred a really genuine litter here. Probably one of the best litters of collie curs I've seen on here. If you can't see the potential in that dog. Then you don't deserve it.
  21. Shock Collar? Got to be worth a try as last resort?
  22. I bet the genuine coursing lads......... All six of them, must wish the rest would cull them selves. f**k me imagine not being a Mong and be surrounded by that lot......
