  1. Yes mate, it's really fecking sad. I remember when Jb's mrs came on and didn't mention she was his mrs. . . . the amount of pms she got inviting her for a day or night out was unreal. . . . never mind the 'other' offers she got. Laughable really, must be a lot of virgins on here
  2. All this stuff aside..... As true as it may be..... Preban a lot of folk used saluki blooded dogs for hare, terrier blooded dogs for vermin and a massive range for bunnys and deer.
  3. You could try non workers to get a working pup.... And it'd be ok if you were brutally honest about the resulting dogs, bred for yourself and were willing to cull hard. The issue is when you breed a litter of 8, sell them and when they don't work out you've chucked a load more average dogs on the merry go round..... Which someone with low standards, or who loves their lurcher cos she is friendly or Cute.... Will breed from and on it goes.
  4. I have them in for a couple of months, out in the run during the day and in at night. Then kennelled all the time from a few months, but in and out the house all the time, sometimes over night.
  5. Some of you lot need to get a f***ing grip. She didn't murder her kid because she is Asian. She did it because she is a f****d up bitch. Just like all the white folk who do it don't do it because they are white. Give your head a wobble and grow up.
  6. No offence dan, but where are you going with this, and what's your point? Out of interest? And saying all dogs will hunt is like saying all ferrets will work, it's just not true. . . .
  7. If i bred 1000 collie x greys. . . . . i'd hope some turned out good as well. . . . .
  8. That's not bad mate. We're clearing an area of farm land, and to be fair, it was beautiful scenery in the sunshine. . . .so silver linings and all that. But a frosty, sunny day would have been better. At least it wasn't raining . . . . again! Did get bit though and so did the dog Always nice to have a change of scenery, woodland, farmland, gardens, industrial places etc etc. Breaks it up. Couldn't do hedge rows every day. . . . it'd make me cry.
  9. Aye. . . . it's sad times. The rise of the midnight cowboy. . . . has killed off a lot of places, especially those that had suffered from disease anyway.. . . . I keeper an estate, and years ago, i've been told, they could shoot 100 + in a night no probs. . . . Now if i'm out with the lamp, i'm lucky to see 20 rabbits over 1000 acres of grass land. . . . . often less. It used to be pretty much none, but I don't kill them there anymore, and we don't allow ground game shot on the shoot. Slowly we are nurturing them back. . . . Spoke to the owners son the other day, he told me he had
  10. I reckon 40% were dug today, something like that anyway. . . . ranging from 3 - 5 feet. Either soft as shit, so it was collapsing in on itself, or digging through stones and hard core. . . . .joy! Still, we filled the boot, and it's better than sitting in doors.
  11. Lucky you, I had to dig the f****r out Think almost as many were dug as bolted. It's not so bad though, you ferret the set, mark the kills, and leave a man behind to do the recovery work, while you move on. . . . and today, we tended to ferret multiple sets at once, bolt everything we could then mark and dig out the kills while the next lot were being netted. . . . . . . where there's a will there's a way!
  12. Knew a man who had a good sized estate. . . . he only killed bucks. . . . . Always had plenty of rabbits to go at. . . .
  13. Fair play mate. . . . you are conscientious.
  14. Still got lots of places to get around. . . . and a lot not until after the shooting season. . . .so feb is the month. Don't worry The One. . . . when we pack up down here, we just keep heading North and higher up the mountains. . . . . Aye. . . that's your way
  15. There is no such thing as 'best all round lurcher' Its just a case of finding a pup out of two dogs that are doing to a high standard what you want the pup to do, and that come from proven lines. . . . making sure that pup has been well reared. Putting the time in to bond, train and condition the dog, and then entering it right, and making sure it gets plenty of work, and the right food, exercise and medical care. That's the magical formula . . . . not some neat list of percentages. . . .
  16. Was stood in the sun today, ferreting in shirt sleeves. . . . coat and jumper abandoned. . . watching the animals pairing up, and the buds starting to show. . . . And every doe was pregnant. . . . and most had to be dug out. . . . not wanting to bolt What the f**k happened to winter? We never had it. Too warm and too much cover to start till November and and an ending in January. Lets pray for snow.. . . . We will still soldier on, until it becomes impossible due to nests and young. And then we will lamp them instead. . . .
  17. I'd rather light colors to be honest mate, for that reason, but i've had to go with best to best. I had a cracking silver jill. . . . who was one of the best ferrets i've ever had. I was going to breed from her the summer just gone. But last season she had a stroke. . . . She is still here, but unfit to carry kits, it just wouldnt be fair. SO that plan was scuppered. . . . and she was also my only unrelated ferret . . . . . So now I have, amongst a generally good team. . . a cracking little poley jill, and a cracking poley hob. . . . But they are fecking brother and sister!
  18. Yep. . . . . Or not useless, but not ideal in any way . . . . . . I.E you get some half x bull/greys that are perfectly adapt at ferreting. . . . but in general a 'ferreter' wouldnt go out and choose that dog for the job. And if before the ban you were doing fox control big time. . . . . a whippet x greyhound wouldn't be your choice . . . . Even odd things like. . . a mate will only have dogs 25" and over, as where he runs them, its all stone walls, with post and wire on top, so he needs a dog that has good clearance and can take large obstacles in their stride, without losing
  19. Or restock places. . . (and i couldnt give two shits if its illegal. . . . ) As for surveys being done by antis etc. I've travelled all over the country, and spoken to lads everywhere. . . . . And i'd say without a shadow of a doubt. . . . currently the populations nation wide, is in decline. Even the spots where you can still bag up. . . . it's less than the past. Trust me. . . i've looked
  20. I've got most colors here, and like has been said, couldn't really care . . . . But albinos are easier to spot in cover. Seem to be moving into mostly polecats though, just the way the line has gone, and as my best two workers are a poley jill and hob, it looks like that's the way it will continue. Although the poley line does through sandys, and I do quite like them, as not a lot of folk seem to work them. . . . .
  21. Aye that's the best way. . . . BUT there have been a few photos put up on here, that are a bit daft, as anyone with any clue can tell where it is by the obvious give aways in the photo. And there have been a couple of members who like to do big write ups, and put exactly where they. . . . . or even more bizarrely, other people they know, have gone and bagged up. . . . and soon after. . . . . well you know the score. . . .
