  1. A beddy/whippet would fit that bill Or a whippet.
  2. Those things in the middle of walls, not the see through ones, the wooden ones. . . . try giving them a tap.
  3. What do they do when they come home with out anything? Do the guests get their money back? The couple of folk i am thinking of are like Simon Whithead (?) at Pakefield (SP) ferrets/pest control, who operate a buisness taking people on 'ferreting experiance' days a long side their pest control etc buisness. I can only assume that these sort of people are located in an area where they can guarantee at least a bag of rabbits, however large everytime. They would also have various insurances etc for the landowner/them/other folk. They probably also come across as knowledgable, experianced
  4. Fair number of folk do it, but you would need to sort out insurance etc. And actually know what you are doing rather than just have a go.
  5. Depends if its just about the numbers. Would you rather catch 8 fox with two dogs or 4 with 1? Different things for different folk, nights, situations. no disrespect my friend like i was saying i would sooner catch a big bag than a small bag ,single handed dogs are just a one night wonder and that is a fact its a big difference between one night out and four nights laid up at least with paired up dogs you do have a option its not rocket science happy hunting Aye but some folk keep more than one singled handed dog. And some dogs are good enough to receive minimal wounds. Me person
  6. A vast range of different dogs will take rabbits in a variety of situations and would be capable of taking the odd fox, hare and even deer if the right situation came up. I would expect beddy x's, collie x's, whippets, deerhound x's, saluki x's etc etc etc to be able to do it, it's how you bring it up. Maybe for your first dog, and for a family companion a collie x might be nice, or a wee beddy whip, but like i said its more important to find the right litter than the right x.
  7. Thats probably a better way to think. Think about the 'type' of dog you want, so rough size, kind of build etc - mainly to do with what land you hunt. Have a look about and see what dogs folk around you are using for that kind of stuff and look out for a litter being bred out of two dogs that fit the kind of thing you want, and are doing well at the game, and go from there. Could be collie, beddy, saluki, deerhound, whippet, grey, bitza . . . . anything really. Just obviously if your just doing bunnys i wouldnt get say a 1/2 bull x or a pure deerhound. . . . .

  9. no such thing smithfield collie beenextinct for 100 years !! And yet you see smithfield lurchers advertised from time to time lol Aye . . . . . you see a lot of stuff advertised . . . . . .but the words 'Tumbler' / 'Smithfield' are popular pieces of bullshit to label your dogs with. . . . .to reel the idiots in.
  10. You could go on until every person had given their suggestion which will be largely based upon the decent dogs they have seen, and eventually just about every breed and x will be mentioned. In my opinion unless you want a dog to perform ONE specific job, then the breed or x is by far one of the least important aspects!
  11. Actually . . . . . . i think it was spot on
  12. One of the things i've recently noticed is how many hunting folk litter. It really gets on my tits even tho its minimal. Its just like p3d says as well, there are too many folk who go to the countryside to kill shit and not enough who actually understand the place.
  13. Part of its the illegality and the need or a quick job most the time i would think.
  14. In which case, like i said, get a decent lawyer and rape the police that arrested him, get some compensation.
  15. Aye, either a much longer tale or a large amount of embarrassment/compensation
  16. Is that all ?? When you stop ferreting/lamping etc you realise just how many hours there are in a day and how many days in a week. . . ..
  17. Fishing, shooting, chasing mink, exploring, door knocking, bbq's, travelling, repairing, breeding, rearing, training, sleeping.
  18. If thats is true then get a decent lawyer and rape the police hard.
  19. What dog we talking about mate WHich one? The pup is a pure whippet. The One - your right mate, by seasons end i'm starting to fall apart, and so is everything around me. This season i went through a fair few nets, one shovel, a mk3m collar, several pairs of trousers, two jackets, one pair of wellies, one pair of wax chaps, one pair of boots, one .410, a chest freezer, a slab of shotgun shells, one long net, a few knives, a few hundred quids worth of vets bills, and much TCP! Looking forward to the summer spent fishing, mooching, shooting etc, August will soon come round
  20. I love it when 'everyone knew' he was a dodgy guy and yet no one thought to mention that as he merrily traded away on here . . . .
  21. "What about the leg of a cat " - Brilliant! . . . . . and good one you, good luck in ireland!
  22. Oooh, i'd forgotten that one. I loved it Read it while listening to tubular bells
  23. Lots! I remember one dick king smith book i think - The Tobyman, it was about a young footpad and he had a ferret. ANd Willard Price, because i wanted that life. But the best were probably the hobbit and the jungle book.
