  1. 8 - The world is full of idiots who make stupid posts moaning about a forum and it's members, on said forum, to said members
  2. True, but i've neevr seen it happen. Personally i find the barking what gives them the edge over spaniels (and i love spaniels). When working certain areas, covers etc, it's very handy to ave a dog sounding on quarry to put the lurcher in the right place at the right time. As for small lurcher vs terrier/spaniel. NO lurcher will enter and work cover like the other two dogs.
  3. Any kind of meat mate, from chicken wings, to squirrels, venison, rabbit, lambs heart, anything really, as long as it wasn't poisoned or had salt added. Variety is good. The odd egg or some soya/goat/lactose free milk is a nice treat

  5. I think recessive mate, i think you will get a mix
  6. Not my thing mate, but it would be handy to have the pined thread back at the top where all the ferret for sale / free adds could go, cos over the next couple of months there will be stacks of them
  7. cheers lads, have you ever known a dog to mark fox\rabbit runs? Usually if they hit a run through grass they will run the line, if it's gone through a hedge or cover recently mine sometimes pauses and marks where it's gone through as if he thinks it's gone to ground, but then usually pushes through once he's figured it out.
  8. Stubby or any other MOD out there?????? So i was just thinking. . . . . there seems to be quite a lot of 'ferrets for sale' posts at the moment, to be fair it's kind of dull. So can we either have them all deleted / moved to the 'For Sale' section. Or can we have the pinned thread back where folk can stick all their ads. Or this might as well be re-named 'Ferret Peddling' section. Cheers.
  9. so what you saying is the dog as good as its master is that right ,well if thats the case the dog you,ve got yes it your first dog if i,m correct well ,that dog could end the best or the worst would that class as your fault i would,nt i,d but it down 2 inexperience the more you learn your trade the better dog man you become its like anythink ,so if thats right what you saying your dog is going 2 be rubbish cause it your first dog i,m not saying that you are ,but thats not the case a inexperiece dog person could get lucky and end with a gooddog but also ruin it with inexperience I k

  12. Well bred stag. Couple of good Welsh hounds. My fathers old Springer Spaniel Peter (some fecking dog he was ) And if i was allowed one more, a well bred dogo, apbt or GSD, whatever was going at the time.
  13. Back leg would probably be ok for light to medium work, front leg and you're f****d, no boxing gloves for that one. Mind you if a 2 legged dog can run then a 3 legged ferret might make it.
  14. mate i have been out wae loads a diffrent crosses an types a lurchers, pure whippets an even greys an i have seen dogs from most types tumble an come up wae a bunny, 1 a the best i seen at it was a beddy whippet, does that make him a tumbler????? from what i gathered off yer man burrel was that in his dogs they had special shoulders to help them tumble on strike i beleive the man, but there again im away to catch nessie on a single red maggot later Mr Burrell has kept this strain pure for many generations and it is jealously guarded. The original dogs were as follows. Haha, well these Celtic Cinnamons are the nuts mate, who wants that European muck. Home grown is the future!

  17. There is no such thing as a 'true dog man', just different folk with different approaches, attitudes, successes and failures, united by the fact that they keep mutts. Seen idiots with good dogs, good blokes with poor ones, and the rest of the spectrum. Seen good dogs have bad times, seen poor ones pull impressive stuff off. They and we are living breathing animals and folk often forget that. Probably what hurts the process the most is the strange obsession with being 'seen' as a 'true dog man', or having the mythical 'allrounder' or any other pish.
  18. Albert64 on hre makes cracking spun poly nets in yellow, very good quality

  21. Met a couple off here and run into a few more. I met Johnnyboy68 over a couple of ferret kits, and ended up talking dogs, ferrets and drinking tea for a good couple of hours, and i'm now out with him every Sunday during the season ad usually at least one or two more days/nights each week. I now very often find myself sat in his kitchen drinking tea, and getting used as a climbing frame by his kids Really great bloke, fountain of knowledge and a fecking laugh. So i've made one true friend off here Met Oldrealtree, at a random agricultural show, and now usually get a night a week for
