  1. A lot of our 'wild polecats' have feral ferret blood in them. See a lot of supposed 'wild polecats' that people have for ferreting, but never trapped or seen one in the wild that was small ferret sized, they have always been big, muscly brutes. Apparrntly you can tell an 'e.u polecat' as it is very dark, muscly, fast and has a black nose, well so does my polecat hob, and his brother is sandy.
  2. Animal rights? KIlling dogs that have killed a fox. Fecking logical animal rights that.
  3. I'm not doubting that dogs do it, what i find funny, is being stood at say a local working dog show, and everyone with a fox dog is saying they do multiple a night, multiple nights a week, through out the season. If that was the case, and there were hundreds of folk in the local area getting big bags every week from end of august, you really think there would be foxes to run after xmas???
  4. Right, first we're talking dogs not people so an example using a totally different species is a wee bit pointless, there are plenty of small things that can kill big things, i accept that. In this case though we're talking a dog and fox, which when it comes to being two different species they are actually in build and 'weaponry' etc are actually fairly evenly matched. Now the question was not, could a spoon fed, house whippet who is pampered by and old lady, kill a fox? It was could a whippet kill one? Now i'd say probably not to the example you use, the same with a molly coddl
  5. Must be a f**k load more foxes around than we thought
  6. Feckin beat me to it mate, was gonna suggest feeding them some iron filings and getting the metal detector
  7. Traps would probably be best if it was survival based. Don't need feeding etc and can catch game when your not there, they are always working. A decent snare / trap line should always feed you and your family. But i'd get a dog and ferrets as that's just more fun.
  8. Not something i would ever disagree mate
  9. Yes mate 'too much' as in disagreeing with the earlier comments such as 'have your vet on speed dial', obviously they are going to take a bit of grief, and more so as a smaller dog with little jacket, but i wouldnt be expecting to rush it down the vets, just give it a clean up and maybe a jab. I didn't say they were a push over, just the fact that physically they are capable. Any animal fighting for it's life is no push over. You seem to think i'm claiming that there are folk going around using whippets for fox dogs, trying to take multiple in a night etc. ALL I SAID WAS THAT I

  12. Was that the question? I suppose it depends on the whippet. They are not all 18 inches. If a 23 inch lurcher can do it, why not a 22/23 inch whippet????

  14. i'd say that 12 kilo record has been well broken just not recorded mate i came across some big fcukers last season Yer mate i'm pretty sure it has, just couldnt find a higher value. But also not all foxes are monsters, so it evens out.

  16. Course they fecking can. The largest fox on record is something like 12 kilo. My whippet weighs just over 17 kilo. They both got teeth. So if the whippet has the bottle it'll kill it dead as dead can be. Which makes you realise a fecking 35 kilo plus b/x should do the job with stupid ease.
  17. Cheers for the info. I didn't quite mean it like that though. I give the dog plenty of varied exercise, but during the summer, with the extra long evenings an nowt to do, and less to do, and with it being a bit dangerous running the dog off road round here in the half dark, i've been doing miles and miles every night around the lanes. He's happy as larry with it as we are not running, and he finds plenty of interest in the hedges and ditches, Just wondered if there was such a thing as too much walking and trotting on roads with regard to any kind of joint problems or something
  18. Scare? Them kids think i'm Jesus.

  19. Pheasant genocide? it can be done.

  20. Aye rocky it's grim mate, my ferrets get fat as pigs with all the rabbits i chuck in with them to save me having to gut them And aye the missus isn't too happy with the smell, but she's still keen enough that she likes coming lamping and eating rabbits. It'll pass
  21. aye, dew, silver, not much different. Sandys. Poleys. Albinos. And wierd shit.
