I have been on it for years but i am using a new account and trust me the so called experts are the trouble makers on here. I have forgot more about ferrets than they will ever know. You can do mate, it really increases the chance, and if you breed silver to silver for a few gens its almost 100% that they end up all f****d. Micros can be the runt, but normally they have been selective bred, smallest to smallest for some time. You can line breed anything, that's how different strains, breeds etc are created in a true breeding sense.

Make the run as big as you can. If the hobs want to fight it dont matter how big it is, they will fight (if their balls are down). Find decent mesh from somewhere, don't use chicken wire (maybe some cut down harris panels?). Sheeting - just use some plyboard or wood mate and paint it white if your worried. As for keeping them entertained, there is no limit, mine have rocks, logs, balls, ropes, tubes, bamboo bushes, water trays, soft toys, whole eggs, feathers, wellie boots, flower pots, boxes, shoes, dead animals, skins, skulls, antlers, and turf. Amongst other things

Scandanavia originally, fur farms, then imported for the U.S pet trade.

Yes mate, it will be the kits squeeking that brought the fox in. I'll tell you this for nowt, after taking one of my ferrets legs off and costing me over 300 quid. It'd be fecking war. I would take great delight squeeking it up to my door, then opening it

Cryptic as ever Mr Warren??? I'm suppose there must have been some knocking about, but no where can i find any record of it in old books either. Just wondered when this revolution happened? -
BUMP - does no one else go ferreting on here???

Albion lass is right, the only really weakness in albino lines is the eyes, but that doesnt really matter. You can always beef up your albino blood by breeding poleys in. Silvers do tend to be a bit 'weaker' genetically and if you go silver to silver for a couple of gens, you get some funny shit. And aye RA - DEWs and Silvers are the same thing ultimately..

most unusual thing you've caught ferreting

I've never found another ferret while ferreting . . . . . i feel left out. Rake aboot - i spat my pint out then mate On the fox note - it's always a bit disconcerting when you half way through netting up and get to a hole that fecking reeks of charlie, i'm always expecting to end up with a munched ferret. I know someone who dug down to their ferret to find it face to face with a pig OOPS! Could have had some nasty questions to answer. -

So, as it stands we don't really have any seen before about ten years ago? Now my thinking is, if they were just a random mutation from your standard albino / poly / sandy lines, then they would have cropped up sooner, and people, being people, would have line bred them sooner. So where did they first come in and where from??? Cos same as you guys, before the last few years i had not come across them EVER as working ferrets. -
The last one and the brindle with the black muzzle are what i'd go for (after your picks that is!)
-
no cost more yes to a pet home no to a working home, silver ferrets dont catch more rabbits so why would any one wanting them to work pay more they are worth a fiver like any other ferret ah [bANNED TEXT] cheers mate if you have some bang them on preloved and some mug will give you £50 for them ive seen ferets for sale for £400 plus because they were differant colours and long haired Them angoras are sick mutant freaks. They cannot even suckle their own young

???? Don't think it was still frozen, but i remember someone sticking up a post saying they had dug down to their ferret and pulled out a whole turkey still in the plastic wrap???? How the f**k it got there no one could explain. Think another noted member also dug up unexploded ordinance. feck me, humm whats that, there is a piece of metal in the way smack smack with the spade then boom Aye mate, too right, if that was me i'd have probably tried to cut through it rather than dig around. WOuld have been a bit messy -

Most important characteristics really are good nose and not killing the stinkers. Used to have a collie that was great at it. Even let the ferrets ride about on his back.

Best i heard was a poley ferret in one hole with collar on, and then an albino ferret with collar on immediately coming out the next hole. Must have caused some confusion. Didn't someone find a frozen Turkey? -
Might sound odd, but when did you first come across supposedly 'working ferrets' that were Silver or DEW. Reason i am asking is i NEVER saw one or heard of one until the last few years. I was wondering whether some nutbag got hold of some show / pet / yank blood and started intoducing in into our strains. Or is it just 'random' mutation, which have become popular and hence have been selected toward???
-
So which nutter is Lurcher100 and what did they do to disgrace themselves under their last name? Oh and the phrase 'I've forgotten more about ferrets than you will ever know" is fecking retarded unless you are a ferret genius with Alzheimers..
-
We get loads here, it being sheep country. I had one in my fecking face.

Barf doesn't need cooking numb nuts! :tongue2: My bitch can open doors, and the fridge. My JRT can open kitchen cupboards and cans of soup, b*****d! He's just getting the pasta on love

Ferrets are funny mate. Hopefully a hob would put her in her place and form some kind of hierarchy. Not sure about working, they will probably be fine. Having said that between me and my ferreting partner we have something like 12 + ferrets and they all eget on fine apart from two, you can work them ok, but when the run into each other below ground you can hear them running about making a severely displeased chattering. No reson for it, just a clash of personalities.
