  1. Darbo - aye mate, that kid is a star, not many teenagers like him about these days! pj - i'd say she is about 22 / 22.5 " tts I would guess. She is fast as fook, very nice natured, and developing into a good dog. Decent nose, strike, turning etc. Looking forward to seeing how she does over the next couple of years. She is owned by johnnyboy68 on here so he's the best one to answer any questions, i'm sure he will comment at some point.
  2. Luna is the skinny black one, and she is bull/whip x beddy/grey, and Gem is the long coated bitch and she is 5/8 grey 3/8 collie. SR - Cheers mate and good luck for next weekend.
  3. WEll done mate, spot on! Always good to get young ferrets working, and a good bag to boot!
  4. Seen the mal x's run, and i'll tell you what, they were some seriously underrated dogs. They reminded me of wolves in a lot of ways. Faster than you would imagine, bags of stamina, very strong, very biddable, smart, hardy, good feet, good coat, intelligent and a very nice, friendly and lovable nature. I'd have one in a shot. However i think it has been very much down to the mal bitch first used, and the knowledge and effort of those involved in breeding these dogs. I'm sure if many folk tried a repeat, they would end up with potlickers.
  5. Cheers everyone, it's much appreciated! The little fecker is healing up really well at the moment, should be back on the go soon enough!
  6. Cheers guys! Sesku - Aye the young lad was extremely happy that his ferrets not only went to ground, but bolted what was down there, and anyone that has done much ferreting will know that bolting little uns is often harder than bolting the adults SR - Aye, he's healing up (again!), good to hear your little tyke is starting to mark, keep him at it and he will soon be spot on i'm sure!
  7. Cheers matey! Just realized i missed one out haha. Can't edit it for some reason, but we got another from a nice small 5 holer around a tree.
  8. Today, being Sunday, found me up early doors and on the road to fetch Johnnyboy68, his two dogs and a ferret. Back to mine for a quick cuppa, grab a couple of my jills, nets etc and out the door. Unfortunately my whippet Finn is in sick bay, so he was staying home today, much to his displeasure. I'm sure he howled the house down all day! Anyway, headed to some paddocks first where the cover is down (ish), and just as we stepped out of the car, the heavens opened. Not great, but better than the fecking heat! Had a mooch up a hedge row, over a fence, and got a decent mark on a set st
  9. . . . . . and shows how much you know about nutrition and proper feeding for dogs . . . .
  10. Not sure you can keep on hunting dogs and pack up hunting. Aye, you might pack up lamping, but you still have to walk them, and they will just do what they do, if there is game in the area.
  11. just go without dog a couple of times....not as good but at least you'll be out. Not a chance mate. This time of year, with the heat and cover like it is. . . . . . .nightmare finding bunnys to ground anyway. The thought of netting up empty warrens does nothing for me, haha.
  12. Cheers mate, i'm getting used to it. He has no reverse gear and is probably a little thin skinned for the land and terrain i hunt him on/in, he's had three trips to the vets in the last 8 months. First two to be put under and sewn up and one just to be stapled and glued. He's very 'committed' when running quarry. But when it works out it'd good to watch.
  13. Cheers mate, he's looking ok, even with the lampshade. Someone had strung some barbed wire about a foot off the ground, between a load of posts, hidden in cover, right on a rabbits arse he did a cartwheel. Came off with a gash on his foreleg, bit of a hole in his face, and various other minor cuts. Could have been a lot worse, missed the eye by about 2 mill, and leg injury is just superficial as far as i can tell, been stapled up. Seems to all be healing up really well (touch wood). Should be good to go by end of next week i hope!
  14. Sick, and anyone who enjoys that is a c**t in my book, no ifs no buts.
  15. Small dog here - 21.5 ", 18 month or just under, so far had a back leg mangled from hitting a piece of sheet metal, a hole in his side from smashing into a fence in cover, and yesterday a gash on the leg and face from plowing into a barbed wire strand strung a foot off the floor, again, hidden by cover. All done in pursuit of game, all needed vet attention, the first two under anesthetic. Dogs a mad wee b*****d. No reverse gear, i swear he's run through fire for a bunny.
  16. Wise man once said to me, kennel a lurcher and a terrier together and come home to a dead terrier one day. Or maybe in your case dead lurcher, given the breedings. Terriers are wind up merchants and one day a fight WILL kick off. Not worth it for the cost and time it will take to knock up another run, imo.
  17. I think the simple question was - in a world where it becomes increasingly difficult to legally dig, would anyone here pay a sub each year to be given access to legal digging with plenty of vermin to go at?
  18. Why bother mate when you can just plough straight through them in the motor.
  19. Sure she wasn't just showing her who the daddy (well, mummy) was? Or trying to treat her like a kit? Also ftb - had ferrets a long time and never had one spray.
