  1. Still think it's bollocks When i was 14, i could afford (manage by hook and crook) to keep all my animals well fed and cared for, but i still didnt have £200 in my pocket Before you get your knickers in a twist, i have used a locator for a long time and wouldnt go out without one, but i dont think you can compare feeding a ferret a terrible and unhealthy diet, with not using the disco carrot.
  2. Shit mate, that's not good at all, i would feel a bit funny about it in some senses, but if you want me to get them dogs out for a mooch or a bit of ferreting etc, then you know you just have to ask
  3. Still broken are you butty? Not good, i got the kids (tom, and funny welly boy) coming, so at least i got a hand laying nets. Bet Gem and Luna are climbing the wall! To be fair to the little bugger, he suddenly clicked christmas night, and although he hasn't had huge numbers, he catching more than he's missing by far, and his style of running is quite good to watch, different from in the day. His mad cover crashing is a bit 'heart in mouth' though.
  4. Well done New Kid Haha Bird - no bull in him . . . . . well, not for a few gens anyway haha
  5. aye but its no much fun when the said bottle is broken aff you skull. if i had caught the wee c**t that night id have killed him lol  I heard that they started making them out of plastic, and it drmaticly reduced the number of stabbings in scotland
  6. Aye, there were plenty of deer up round there I have some great memories of the winter i spent there, we had some decent snow, and it was like being in a lost world You are right, that whole area is beautiful, i do miss it
  7. It's a beautiful place mate, spent a good year mooching about that moor, and the surrounding country side, i lived really near the wind farm
  8. Spent 4 years living there and 1 on fala moor One of the best countries in the world
  9. Nostalgia matey. Many a cold night up north at some out door party / rave, i've been happy to have a bottle of the tonic wine. Warms you up a treat And stumbling home at 5-7am along Edinburghs streets looking down at the floor, broken bucky bottles are a common sight
  10. There's a ban on whippets? Shit, better get mine up in the attic like Anne Frank
  11. Glad it's not me alone! And yes it is superb! And aye, need half litre bottles me thinks. I've just found somewhere i can buy it from down here, so i'm happy They also did one with like a twist of lemon type thing, like a white beer aged in whisky casks as well, that was good. Can only get the standard whisky one and the rum here though. Just need to find a bucky supply now
  12. Been drinking it for a few years, can't get enough of it. Aged in oak whisky barrels. Even better they have brought out one aged in oak rum barrels. Yay O yes it's 7.4 % and tastes great
  13. Sounds good mate I got work again tomorrow, then maybe another couple of runs tomo night, some bushing on sat and a day with the ferrets (and johnnyboy) on sun, fingers crossed.
  14. R.e - the dead rabbits down holes. Just like to point out it is only something i have used with other peoples dogs who were older and didnt mark, to get them up to speed pronto!
  15. Aye, but i quite like the penny to drop as soon as possible, and there's nowt wrong with giving nature a helping hand.
  16. Some people once thought the world was flat. It was because they were ignorant, under educated on the matter, or just followed the trend. Same with the bread and milk.
  17. Just another wee update. I was at work today, so didn't get a chance to take the dog for a walk before it got dark. Despite the terrible conditions for it (light as day, still and no rain), i decided to go for a wander with the lamp on a different bit of ground by the house, some nice wheat stubbles, again fast rabbits here. Jumped the gate and started off down the hedge row, and knew it wasn't going to be up to much, it was like day light and the sound of my feet squelching through the flooded field sounded painfully loud. Very little about and what was there in the distance, was lon
  18. Done the same with a dead rabbiot just out of reach down a hole.
  19. how dare you lol I did make the point I would only give praise if I had actualy seen a bunny enter the warren/hole, also I agree a wee terrier type would be handy as part of a team but Trev was talking about twisting the wifes arm to get what would be his first dog for ferreting hence i recommended a beddy type which would be more suitable than a russel, I,m no arguing with you anyway, I noticed in you,re other thread you,re much bigger than me
  20. I just like dogs at work. I can watch any dog work and enjoy / appreciate it - be it a collie herding a flock, agility and security work, or hunting with teriers, spaniels, lurchers or long dogs. If my dog is layed up i will happily get out with other folk and their dogs, better than being sat at home dreaming. However, nothing replaces the magic of working your own dog.
  21. Some very good points here! We have noticed the same here, a dramatic drop in fox numbers, and all quarry really, since the rise in the number of shooters about. And also a rise in idiot townies moving from the suburbs to the country who split the land into ever smaller parcels, each badly managed. Even those who are ok with the killing, want it done with a gun not a dog (even rabbits).
  22. Can some one explain why in detail?
  23. Best lurcher to lurcher bred dog you can find with a good dash of collie is possible.
  24. Aye mate, it's easier here cos we have no kids, so it's either tag a long or sit at home alone
  25. Can't think of a book that gives more info. I could write a lot more maybe, but i think it would bore people! It's a must here, you couldnt ferret without a dog. I rarely do it but i'm going to have to disagree with KR - i would never give a dog too much or any encouragement for marking holes, as this really can lead to false marks. Also i like having a tyke (usually russel bred) in the team, it makes marking in tight / thick hedges easier, and covering holes in the same kind of hedges, much less of a headache. Also last time ferreting the russel caught a bolter inside the hedge, that came
