  1. What gets me, is it's just sooooooo fecking boring walking the same land over and again, no matter how much you have got, or if its permission or not. It just gets so mundane after a while.
  2. He does state Rabbits Jai, as for the terrain, i run mine on all terrain I know mate, i think they are ideal wee rabbiting dogs, and will take the odd other thing if they come across it, or at least have a good go. Mine also loves feather, and has had at least 30 pheasants this season so far. I also run my lad on varied ground, however when folk say 'all terrain', that is a pretty subjective thing. I seem to spend a lot of my life with the dog in steep, rocky tree lined gullys, bramble filled ditchesfull of scrap, mountain sides, thick woodland and lots of generally shit places to r
  3. What land do you plan on hunting, i.e what terrain?

    game stew

    Stew . . . . . food of the gods.
  5. In general i think the wind thing does slow them down because it is harder for them to pick up whats going on above ground, but they still bolt with a ferret up their behind.
  6. Rabbits have limited color vision, pretty much only able to differentiate between blue and green, and they have a blind spot in front of their face, hence they run into bright pink nets no bother.
  7. There is a lot of variation in whippets as well, i've seen plenty of 18 " very light weight ones, and then mine is pretty much 22" and most of 20 kg.
  8. Sick to death of walking the same land.

  9. To be honest it's hard to beat a well bred, purpose bred lurcher for most hunting tasks. I think with whippets, you just either have a thing for them or you don't. I wouldnt swop mine for the world, but i would give him a thicker jacket if i could. He has higher prey drive than any dog i have met.
  10. "Mainly Lampers" Seems a strange thing to say; From what I read, some lampers have had only good things to say.... Cheers. Sorry i think that came across wrong. What i meant was - are those that are horrified by it , for the main part, into lamping. Because then i can see how seeing multiple dogs on a rabbit could be a very alien and wrong sight. If you do a fair bit of daytime mooching, especially with only one dog, then you will have had lots of experiances, of the rabbit (or whatever) breaking cover and your single dog being in the wrong place.
  11. Are most of the folk knocking it, mainly lampers, as i can understand why it would go against the grain if so. But day time mooching on rough land, you need three or four dogs just to cover all angles etc. And that's just runners.
  12. what is pall mag boxs fuckn bollocks whats ya reasaning if they worked they would have one in every hospital on the planet is that good enough Not neccessarily true.
  13. shes a star jai bushing with the rest now and getting down the holes as well When's your birthday mate . . . . i'm going to buy you a new shovel
  14. That big hob is a cracker, he knows how to wrangle a rabbit
  15. That's not a shepherd, that's a 'super shepherd'
  16. If you enjoyed that, go and watch 'Hogs Gone Wild' on the net somewhere, ten episodes of hog hunting in the states, and our own Ned Makin even puts in a cameo.
  17. Looks like a cracking day out moll. At the end of the day, you take a walk with some mates and a pack of dogs, and what gets up gets run by the pack, that's just life. Dogs are a pack animal anyway, and i believe that it's healthy to give them days like that.
  18. Well done mate, good do that Might be in your neck of the woods on Wed
  19. I dont know why but he seems worried about just grabbing the bunny and not the net. He has never been bitten by rabbit, ferret, dog or anything. Hopefully he grows out of it. He has had a couple of bollockings about it, off camera, but on the other hand I dont want to put him off ferreting. He'll learn mate, at the end of the day, the best teacher will be the rabbits that he loses I'd say he is doing very well for his age
  20. Good day out there matey I woke up this morn and looked out of the window, and it was the first morning all year that has really looked like a proper day for ferreting, with frost coating everything in sight As for marking dogs, we would be stuffed without ours, we have a lot of warrens here and many are used but dont hold. The dog tell us which are occupied, which holes the rabbits are nearest to, and which holes they are going to bolt from when they strt moving, and that's before they even grab them, run them down etc. One of the dog even tells us if there is more than one rabbit d
