Think about what some lads make in matching and stud fees. . . . . . the amount of cash that goes about in the coursing world is unbelievable at times. I agree fully but did the lad above mean 5 grand ??? Did the arabs not pay something daft like 6 k recently for a sapling?

I do like a sandy. I have two sandy hobs here. As for getting stuck with the hobs. . . . Joel may be right. However, these days, with the rise in popularity of vac hobs, the number of hobs being bought / taken / kept has gone up. Also, it always worries me how many people breed litters, and how few work hobs. Nice litter by the way mate, well done, I hope they do you proud

There are some very paranoid folk on here. . . . . . Simple answer is it's probably a bull x greyhound and it's no more likely to start a scrap or eat your dog than any other dog, it just depends if the owner is an idiot or not. And as you have only just seen him and your dog is still in one piece you are probably ok. But next time you see him walk past. . . . . . .. just open the window and shout . . . . . . . . . "SUMMER HUNTER" or words to that effect at him, from the good folk at THL. See. . . . even us big bad hunters have morals

Nice photos Kay. We have a gang that comes here to shear, each man gets through something daft like 250 in a day. Back breaking work!

Depends on what it was told to do, and it's temp. we used to have two, the one would just face the ewe/ram off, but didn't really have the minerals to bully it, he was a great herding dog, but more an eye dog i guess. The other would get in and shift it on command, and would pin and hold sheep if needed.

Aye, Mike certainly never charged me 3-400 for a pup

Thanks.Someone with a brain cell I new a few exsisted on here. It's always good to see people resort to calling those people stupid. . . . who disagree with their slightly foolish points It's constructive to say the least

Numbers of stoats and weasels has dropped off here as well.

To the lad that said. . . . . why wouldn't it work. . . . . . - They used a minature poodle. - They write like the most work either of those dogs do is keeping the sofa warm. - They called them lurcherpoos. . . . . what's the chance of any working dog man saying that??? Crossed to a decent lurcher, pretty much any beast will produce pups that will probably catch something one day. . . . . . . But does that make it a breeding worth doing?
-
Out of interest . . . . a couple of questions. . . . . What was the logic behind breeding greyhound x micro types??? Surely the two sorts are at odds with each other, one having a long, lean body. . . . . the other being.. ,. . . . . well. . . . micro! What did you hope to produce, and what did you actually get? Also i'm a little stumped at the small size / coming on thing. If they are slow to come on, possibly they are just genetically weaker, because otherwise it doesn't really make sense. . . . an animals size shouldnt dictate the length of time before it can eat solid food.

Makes sense matey

How so mate, I must admit, i've met a couple that would bush charlie well. . . . . and worked well to ground. They pretty much were just obsessed with finding that one quarry, whatever the circumstance.
-
True words mate, they are an incredibally nice group of people, who really know their stuff, and just good honest dog folk. I have to say . . . . . . . i'm jealous, i'd have him in an instant I hope he does you proud matey, as i'm sure he will

Aye, minced chicken and fish is ok. . . . . but I wouldn't feed it alone. Seen kits end up with bone problems etc, as well, with that kind of diet. I'd be looking at getting a good bit of flesh and bone into both the kits and the mother. Even without taken the kits off the jill now, they will quite happily pile into some fresh meat, and this will both give them a good start and also take some pressure off the jill. Sounds like she is struggling to support the litter,. . . . . possibly due to her size. Rearing a litter takes a fair bit out of a ferret. As has been said - if it was sun strok

To all the welsh people on here,i have a couple of questions
Ideation replied to MR TEA POT's topic in General Talk
Short answer is that the English tried to stamp out Welsh culture and identity, and the language was part of that. So Welsh children were banned from and punished for speaking the Welsh in Welsh schools. . . . -
You're lucky Surprised they let him go to be honest. . . . . unless I've got it wrong. . . . .
-
I agree with you mate. Seen one, what I would call 'proper bushing terrier' that I can think of. . . . it was a black and tan russel type, bitch, worked cover well, sang like a canary, and would go to ground, but only really for a wee run through and play, wasn't interested in sticking.

Do you have any betters pics of the white dog?

Saw a line of beddy x greys this weekend.. . . .forty years of breeding. Think it converted me

3/4 Whippet 1/4 Collie Pups On Here...
Ideation replied to Gaz_1989's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I'd stick with what will suit what YOU are going to do. There are some cracking dogs on here, who do a hell of a lot in the field. . . . . but that doesn't mean they would be right for your bitch. -
if it is an old chest freezer.....screw/glue a bit of worktop to the top of it... Good idea. I currently just use the top of the freezer. I'm planning on having one area for prepping meat to eat and another for everything else. NL - Good thinking

Right lads - been doing more thinking, measuring and planning - These are the changes / ideas so far - comments would be appreciated! Firstly I've found more space for the runs. How does 4ft wide by 10ft long/deep sound? Galvanized bars for the outer fence, and mesh for the inner run dividers and a solid roof, or half solid, half mesh. . . . . . Will have flood lights on the runs if I need light at night. Going to buy myself a new chest freezer for the inside of the garage / workshop, plumb in a belfast (think thats what they are called) sink, and put in a work top for meat
