  1. Where ever they're coming from. . . . . they're in for a nasty surprise. . . . . .
  2. Had another shoot today. Had 120 picked by the end of day, but i'm sure I will find more tomorrow. . . . Should have been more but the afternoon went a little awry. . . they had 91 by lunch. . . . But some cracking birds flown and shot. Someone described one drive as 'Biblical'
  3. Ferreting without a dog is shit.
  4. I don't know if it's been mentioned and i've had a long day so I cant be arsed to read all the usual 'hit it' bollocks. . . . . # But I have a dog here that had ok recall in the house, yard, dead ground etc. . . . but when lamping hunted up to f**k. . . . . mainly because he had been used for a lot of day work, where he had been allowed to have his head and hunt at fairly great distances on his own. . . . . He now has much better recall on the lamp. . . . . What I did was the fabled 'yoyo method'. . . . . . Take the dog out on a night where its perfect lamping conditions and
  5. McDonald's have been in business for years, they sell a lot of stock ..... So they must be doing something right, and please a lot of folk....... But it doesn't mean they make the best or even quality burgers. The best burgers are either home made or bought from an independent seller who prides themselves on sourcing the best ingredients to make a truly tasty burger....... On a related note.... All those folk saying that you can't get a collie x pup elsewhere .......well, I've seen about half a dozen decent collie bred litters of lurcher pups on here lately ......and nearly all have strugg
  6. Full moon last night? shitty conditions. .. and the dog being in his element being able to smell and see everything maybe . . .
  7. Those are rabbits Colin. . . . you don't have those in Scotland.
  8. Never saw him Tyla ..... But we heard him and his mates calling and got pretty close ..... Next time! Saw a few of his smaller friends though :-)
  9. It's always good to know. . . . . that you don't need to breed worker x worker to get good dogs. We can all sleep easy now. . . . .
  10. Which brindle? There are two. . . . the lighter one, who you can see standing, is something like beddy/grey x bull/whip/grey and the one lying down conked out in the car is 5/8 bull, 3/8 grey. The second is 'the general' haha.
  11. Aye, too true. . . . the hound is missing from the line up. . . she's flat out in her kennel.
  12. Had a decent day today, two mooches in two different forests, and bumped into the intended quarry in both. It was great to be out and in good company Not many photos. . . but some tired dogs this evening. . ..
  13. f***ing hell . . . . you should have come for a walk in the woods mate. . . . it was 'entertaining'.
  14. Joe - did you not get mine? probably i-phone error. I invited you up today for a walk in the forest and you didn't come Ignorant sod! Need to speak soon matey Hope you an O are well Cheers Stan and Colin. . . . i'm happy. . . . we'll see how long it lasts . . . it's even money on which will come first, him back at peak fitness or him back in sick bay. Fingers crossed eh. Had him out with Gwen this afternoon, doing a bit of flushing, had a lovely hunt, and he's a bit sore now.
  15. Some may remember that the whippet had a bang right at the start of the season. . . . and I thought he may have had to have his toe off etc. Anyway. . . . I took some advice and went to see a good vet in London. . . . a fair old drive. . . . . But two months after he banged it. . . I let him off the lead for the first time earlier this week. .just for an hour in the fields around the house . . . . as we had a gusty rainy night. . . He was a bit rusty but it was good to see him run. . . . And he can still walk. . . . so heres hoping that it's behind us and we can get on with the
  16. I've never had an issue with a dog being messy in the house, and all mine can live in or out. I've never really 'toilet trained' them. . . . just paid close attention. Every time the pup eats or drinks i take it out, and in general take it out as regular as possible on the lawn for a few mins. When it pisses or shits, I give it praise. You can usually tell when they are going to piss or shit as they start to cast about sniffing as if looking for somewhere that they remember going before. I tend to find they pick it up real quick. I don't encourage it to piss in the house in any circumstances.
  17. There is a lot of truth in saying that there are many ways of doing the same task well. . . But you do see some folk who are just sloppy. . . . i'm a bit autistic, but it annoys me sometimes when folk don't set a net or fold one up, or similer. . . the same way as me, as I see it as the most efficient. But that's because i'm sad.
  18. The hound is about 18" tts and the terriers are around 15/16 " tts.
  19. Not sure about the black and tan - i'll go measure her in a sec. Same with the terriers. . . . . The tan one is totally blind. . . . which is quite funny as he still works like feck in the forest and runs into trees while chasing stuff
  20. Lines are interesting things . . . . and maybe you get one when you come up with something new or different in some way. . . . or specialised. Because you cant get one from just breeding a litter. Because I could go to my mate who has been breeding a line of terriers for say 20 years. . . . get a bitch pup. . . . stick one of his dogs over it after a few years. . . . . get a litter. . . . . and call it my line????? Not really! A line has to have some consistency I guess . . . . . and maybe some uniqueness?
  21. Cheers! The black and tan is a hound - mostly beagle, but a bit of teckel and a couple of other bits and bobs in her. . . . I do indeed have a whippet, but hes been in sick bay for the last couple of months. Out of it this week, and starting to build his fitness back up now.
