  1. You can use any average sized ferret for ratting if they have the minerals but them micro things are a joke, ive had them as small as female stoats, they good for bolting the odd bunnie but when the going gets tough they give in, i have also had a small ferret dragged out of a drain pipe into a rat net by the rat, luckely the dog knew the score and the ferret lived, they are a waste of space in my eyes, just the same as them greyhound ferrets when that fad was in fashion.

    Back Button

Bottom left mate. Thank you for that, , its not usualy that far down on good sites and easy to find, it is also normaly outlined on each post so if you get sick of any cack you can bail out quick. P.s edited to add, so i have to scroll all the way to the bottom to exit quick instead of the top, , come on admin sort this problem out.
  3. Regarding the origional post, my best in one night is 5 rabbit,s and a 3/4 leveret and 2 rat,s ,chunky caught the rats and rabbits easy but realy struggled on the big hare that he coarsed in the beam, this was in january 2005 by the way.
  4. I would not compliment them and call them idiot's they are far below that category, iwould say maggot's have more brains ..and that is a compliment.

  5. Where the feck is the (back to the top of the page option) on this funny forum, instead of the option to go to the top i have to keep scrolling up which is a bit of a tit ache when im right at the bottom of a long winded thread.
  6. What do you mean by early stages? How early, "a day" ? if you are used to seeing a rabbit run with a dog behind it, you will know if it has mixi.... If there are no signs of mixi, when you catch it, then you will be ok... It kicks in very quickly... from one day being fine, to the next day, being fuckedc in the eyes..... It sound's like you know all the answer's so crack on and educate us all with your endless information.
  7. Early stage mixy can be awkward to spot, late stage is a dead give away, closed swelled eyes leaking puss the same to the the but hole area and lack of muscle, either way it is totally harmless to anything on the planet apart from bunnies.
  8. Rabbits dont play by the rules FACT , if you shoot a good number of bunnies you will find that out, ive hit them through the eye under the eye above the eye behind the eye and you still get the odd stubborn one that wont give up the ghost, shooting targets will get you zeroed in to your chosen distance but wild stuff is a different ball game, targets sit still live quarry does not,any honest hunting folk will tell you they miss or wound nearly as many as they kill, they will also say they can get 1/2in grouping's at 35yrd,s on a static target, my advice to you is change to .177 and you wont go
  9. Wadcutter flat heads and marksman flat heads, the marksmen where the cheapest and come in a throw away card board box, they also done the pointed ones for better penetration on them long shots on the giant black slugs, you will get a grouping of about 1ft at ten yrd,s but all you need is one to hit the target and you have maximum internal damage and green stuff everywhere, you will sometimes have to take a second shot into the breather hole from close range if they try to crawl of into the hedge this usually does not happen though, as kid's me and my brothers would take turns trying to shoot e
  10. One less is better than one more, 10 less is better than 10 more and so on, if i was to encounter a wild red tail/harris etc,i would do my best to try and trap it or get it down to the glove, failing that after a week of trying im sure it would end up dying of lead poisoning. ,the same goes for anything else that should not be over here.
  11. I was camping at selby game fair a while back and the weather was horrendous, every one in there 4 x 4s where getting dragged in by a tractor, me included towing a caravan, i was in a old k reg pajero with % on 20% of road tyres crap really, anyway, when i was leaving i noticed a rangey stuck down to the axle in mud, the driver had to get out and leave it, i thought crap i have to drive past it and i will surely get stuck dragging the caravan, so of i went expecting to end up like the rangey but instead of being in the same plight as the rangey the pajero just carried on ploughing through the
  12. Sub 12ft lb its got to be .177 all the way, been plinking for the past 25yrs with various rifles some shite some good, some .177 some.22 and the .177 always wins over the .22 for me, i favour the flatter trajectory of the .177 ,i see no difference in stopping power between the two as it makes no difference if you hit where you aim, and you have more chance of doing that with .177.. Anything from 30 to 60ftlb has got to be the rainbow trajectory .22, anything over 60ftlb then i would say .25 or the.22 rimfire.
  13. Fact but not without camera tricks, that rat in bradford was a normal size rat held up to the lense.
  14. Its hard to be 100% when they is nothing to compare the size to something. http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://bothwellmen.com/Curlew%2520Whimbrel.jpg&imgrefurl=http://bothwellmen.com/INDEX%2520FILE/INDEX_BIRDS_STUDY.htm&usg=__MoC8ANIa8KpjaWHPrfRn7pP5fqA=&h=900&w=1200&sz=205&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=kfm5ZuhlkqxTVM:&tbnh=131&tbnw=169&prev=/images%3Fq%3DCurlew%2Bwhimbrel%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DX%26rlz%3D1W1GGLL_en%26biw%3D1004%26bih%3D702%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=603&ei=itN4TMulBtSRjAfdy8jPCg&a

    Quarry

Ill be flying my other halfs gos when he lets me on anything legal that moves, ,i have been out with him quite a bit and it causes arguments because he is only in the house on a sunday,so his bird is really fit but still struggles with a straight lined pheasant till they slow down to hit cover, i have seen his bird mug pheasant and also catch young poults and also catch pheasant that have been reared in pens and really tame, but he does not count these as kills as they are far too easy and un testing quarry for his goshawk, but on the other hand when he flew his harris these mugging and easy
  20. Good shooting but that's got to be a fluke hitting the 2 of them..ive seen you miss rabbit's from 15yrd's away on the bipod... .. Good stuff on a serious note... .
