I have never heard of a dog getting fried in a mag box, just read the small manual that gets suplied with them and you wont go wrong, just remember they can dehydrate the dogs so make sure they have access to water before and after use in the mag box,and dont leave them in there for more than 1 hour at a time on number 6 setting 2x a day, unless you have a good greyhound man near you who can give you some more experienced information on them.
  8. I have had a large Porta Mag 500 for some years now and i would not be without it,be it for the terriers or lurchers as all dogs benefit from them when injured from sprains/breaks and cuts and tears, they heal up loads quicker when being treated regular in the Porta mag. http://www.bossproducts.co.uk/detail.asp?id=1499

  13. I have shot rats with both .22 and .177 to good effect and had good results in both calibres, .177 is my prefered choice for shooting whatever quarry and aslong has you hit the rat in the neck/head it will be brown bread, they are pretty tough critters and i have seen them run on 20yrds before they drop stone dead even with a well placed shot, obviously with head shots this does not happen but they still can jump about a little till the nerves switch of,but sometimes a head shot is not possible,so in my opinion from my experiences either calibre is more than capable of stopping a rat if shot acc
