    what you do to me , is hunting not coursing. Coursing is just seeing how the dog runs. Hunting is catching it as quick as possible. Imo lol Just becuase a saluki blooded dog isnt striking all the time doesnt mean its not trying. Ive seen them catch hares in 30 seconds and ive seen the catch them after 3 mins. A goodun has the ability to read the hare and if its a strong settle in behind it instead of wasting time with hopless strikes.     I think it works out about a quarter .... She has a chest full of lungs that for sure she is six months old and handles 8 miles behind the quad at 12 miles an hour easily ....... You can see she is well excersized mate she looks in good shape. If all goes well in five years time im looking to have dogs of that sort of breeding. But i want to get the baseline right first. I will be keen to hear her progress ... All the best.

    How do you mean limit yourself with a whippet? Not everyone is happy to just catch rabbits mate. But what else is there? Plenty if you have a gun or hawk. I've seen a good little whippet struggle with a lively rabbit let alone anything else. And answer me this ...... I whippets are so brilliant why has everyone I know have gone back to the lurchers ???? Atb

    A lot of people have an opinion on dogs they have never seen run. Pure greyhounds can make good dogs I seen one on daytime hares and he done the job. If bred and conditioned right they can kill good numbers. As for whippets I wouldn't own one why limit yourself. And every person I know who has had a whippet has always gone back to getting a crossbred .....

    Long netting at night. Also I know it's not really needed any more but I like a dog that can catch at night without a lamp ..

    Yeah a mate of mine has one very fast and tough can stick when it needs to. Its hitting 6 this season and is still out catching in daytime.

    I like saluki xes. Im picking up a very well bred pup in the summer to run along side my feral one. I dont think theres any big secret to them. A dog is a dog when alls said and done. When mine first come to me most would have either sold him as "a well bred killing machine" or pts. But i put abit of effort into it and time and patience and its paid off. Plenty of lads on here have seen him run and he has that "something" about him. Another thing ive noticed is so many lads will trace coursing lines till there minds boggled and will sit on here reading about fitness and feeding but to lear

    Riohog it says at the start of that vid they took a bag of 84 hares. So they must get a few runs. I personally think if you took a good coursing bred dog from a pup over there it would have something to offer them. Atb

    Riser pellets and hair rigged floating tigernut soaked in betalin. This gets them consistently feeding on the surface and the tigernut seems to attract the bigger fish. Ive caught carp on centrepins upto 27lb and trust me it is brilliant. Atb

    You can jab your own dogs and other peoples but if you accept money for it then its illegal.If thats the case then why did Eddie Chapman get fined for innoculating his own pups?? Fucknows feller but everyone who owns lurchers or terriers around here jab them up themselves or get a friend to do it never had problems unless your putting your dogs in boarding kennels then you need to take them to a vet and have a certificate.atb

    I do love a good collie/greyhound i think a good one is a truly versatile hound. My old lad has served me well over the years and runs on the stoney fields and heaths near me. I hope to get another one like him but maybe abit less sighthoundy. Atb
