  1. Polish the life out of the piston, junk the ox spring and get a replacement, and polish the life out of the spring ends, fit a top hat and delrin spring guide, a little lube on rebuild, and your away.
  2. Change the spring mate, an ox spring will make it twangy and snappy as hell.
  3. Take your time pal, you will be amazed how easy it is once ya crack on.
  4. Brilliant that Mac well done, just to add Lance, dont blather the spring in moly grease when you put it back together, get some moly PASTE, and just a light covering is all thats needed, if you can get a tin of dri slide spray about a fiver off fleabay, and some silicon oil, de grease everything, moly paste on the spring, dri slide on the piston, and just a light dab of silicon oil on the piston seal, it will shoot smoother, and I guarantee it wont diesel any more, good luck mate, as Mac said, any probs give us a shout.
  5. Myxy was identified by a French doctor (his name escapes me) who's Hippocratic oath obviously did not extend to Rabbits, he identified the disease in south American Lagamorphs and released a couple of infected ones onto his own Rabbit strewn property, when our authorities realised the dreadful mistake they had made in bringing the disease to our shores, they tried to fence off the whole of Sussex in an attempt to stop the spread................ It failed, and that dear reader is why we have the revolting disease still with us today, utterly disgusting and incredibly cruel.
  6. Yes Tim did like that bit, the LGV/LGU is a better rifle internally than a tx/prosport/97 by a country mile, the trigger (Which can be sorted) is not as good, I will repeat what I have said before, I have tuned and shot 97s ,tx200s prosports, and not one has had the silky smooth super silent action of the LGV, including rifles done by some well known tuners, I can improve a 97 by miles, turning something that sounds like a car crash into a smooth, nudge your shoulder accurate rifle, I can also improve a tx or prosport as I am sure Philpot and Pianoman will confirm, but I can only very slightl
  7. A very good choice indeed, they should make cracking ferreting dogs, and be deadly on the lamp.
  8. I agree, to be honest a bloke that has had his ticket revoked once and gets it back is a very lucky man, to have it revoked for a second time, and expect it back is very optimistic indeed, not impossible but highly unlikely, probably a fishing rod and an air rifle would be a good buy in the near future.
  9. My only reservation about that theory is..... We dont tend to get cubs in March.
  10. With that in mind, a dog is prob most likely.
  11. It certainly would, however a Walther LGV/LGU would be even better.
  12. Well its certainly not an Otter print thats for sure, its difficult to tell when you cant get an idea of size, roughly what did it measure across the print buddy?
  13. A lathe is not necessary to tune spring guns, all the polishing and de burring can be done with the use of an electric drill, wet and dry, and metal polish, improved piston seals, buttoning, and even cylinder cross hatching can be done without a lathe, add to this decent kits like Vortek etc a hell of a lot can be done to improve the firing cycle of spring rifles.
  14. I have to agree mate, I just dont see the point of them, each to his own of course, but walking around with something the public would perceive as an assault rifle could end badly, as Walshie says it looks like some kid has fitted lots of lego bits to his pop gun.
  15. Forget the Hmr bud .17 hornet all day long, or......... the awesome .17 Rem, now ya talking.
  16. Seriously, it was good that you got a reply, put a note in your diary, and in six months, call in to see that very farmer, thank him once again for his reply and ask if anything has changed, it may well have.
  17. I have probably asked this before but does anyone know of a reasonably priced vets in S Yorks or Derbyshire that will do the Jill jab ?
  18. These can be surprisingly good with a bit of tweaking, even better converted to air.
  19. I can tell you what spring rifle does perform best in .177.... The Walther lgv for sure, the thing with the 50/99 although a light rifle all the recoil (what there is of it) goes straight back rather than flip upwards like a 95, hence the 95 greatly benefiting from some weight at the muzzle , the 50/99 is a great little rifle to tune, I have done a few, but they are hard to get up to 12 fpe in .177 even though I am not a .22 fan at 12fpe even I have to admit that they do perform well in .22 and can be made very soft and smooth to shoot, I would like another crack at a .177 this time installin
