Well a plus point is he is free and chasing mate, keep at it mate, how sweet will success taste when it comes, I think once he starts killing the silliness will subside, seriously mate hat off to you for sticking with it
  2. You may find yourself rather dissapointed with a redtail after flying a Harris, they take two or three seasons to really come on song, they are a long term investement.
  3. Laird Rake can you help this fellow sportsman out?
  4. Sir your generosity knows no bounds, a fantastic offer as always Laird Rake.
  5. You say 'ran'..... Out of interest what sort of days did he have, what was the bag numbers?? I think ran was the wrong choice of words, more like a bimble around, for the odd pheasant that strayed from neighbouring shoots, I think the best bag we ever had was twelve, lol, but the flight pond, well now that was brilliant, he only allowed it to be shot once a month, but we nearly always got a good bag of teal and mallard, that was back in the 80s, and he has long since joined the great majority.
  6. Yes 15-20 acres` is a small shoot, but it can be done providing you don't overshoot it, an old shooting pal of mine ran just such a concern, and some very happy days and evenings I remember there, 5 grand an acre is more like it in the peak district, so I suspect this land may not have had sporting rights, but I am sure the little man will enlighten us
  7. And must love laying on the freezing floor undoing the propshaft, to change those bearings that you are sure you changed only last summer and of course when the bad weather/snow comes that is when the pile of shite will break down, just when you need it most

Come on then dude, tell us he has made his first kill, pleeeeeeease, the suspence is killing me and others I am sure, lol, seriously hows he doing pal?
  10. Went lamping wed night, the bloody wind was that strong, I had to approach the bunnies upwind of them (always a good idea not) when he finally got a chase the rabbit turned into the wind and he could only manage to grab its arse, and of course got kicked off going to go out tonight if the wind settles down a bit, but I am not holding my breath.
  11. A small shoot would get by with 10-15 acres, if its got a bit of woodland and a pond, or you are able to make a pond, the age old problem of course is, how far the land is from home, its no good putting birds down and not being able to go and see to them, otherwise you might as well p-ss the money up the wall, however if someone in the shoot can go and do it then that's a different matter,I will keep an ear to the ground mate, sounds like a good plan land is always a wise investment, they are not making any more.
  12. Feck me I will fight em both for £100,000,000
  13. So if you have some permission a bit further afield, offer to take another member out on yours, you will do much better mate than asking for permission on here.
  14. Jap shite? Really? Well perhaps you should ask the guys in the outback in Oz which is best, they will not touch shitty landrovers with a barge pole, when your nearest neighbours can be a hundred miles away, you need something uber reliable, that is why they all run Toyota landcruisers my friend, personally I like them despite working on them for years, would I have another? Yes but only as a toy/shooting truck, as a daily driver they are crap, unless you are pottering around near home, but I agree if you spend £3000 on a rusty pile of shit, you will get it back in a few years, and it will stil
  15. I wonder if they would get rid of an infestation of rats then, of course nobody goes ratting for SPORT do they?
  16. And a 28 bore is also a fantastic little carry about gun, and in the right hands will punch well above its weight.
  17. Get door knocking mate like we all have to, or send your plod mate round in the firms car you wont find many people giving permission away , on here, try farmers weekly.
  18. Yes you should mate, but I would start at book length for that load, interestingly enough, a lot of rifles shoot best when there is a jump to the rifling, not all by any means but a lot do, get your powder charge right first mate, because if you don't have that right, all the fiddling around in the world with seating depth wont make your loads more accurate and will confuse the hell out of you, let us know how you get on with the Sierras pal.
  19. Trim all your cases back to standard length every time you load, I use the Lee case trimmer and cutter and find it excellent, imho far too many people get all anal about seating depth, DONT mate, just set your bullet to the length given in the load data then find the most accurate powder load, once you have found that, then and only then if you really must bugger about with seating depth have a play, but I must stress that the true oal of your cartridge can only be measured using the proper tool and measuring from the ogive not the bullet tip, as soft points especially can vary quite a bit, t
  20. You need to speak to Rake aboot mate, he is from up your end, I am sure he has lots of land round Edinburgh, I am sure he will be only too pleased to help out

When you say we mate, is the other person someone he is used to? As I know my mates gos can be a funny bugger, when she is out with somebody new, I believe he drops the weight slightly if he is going out with somebody fresh to the bird, if this is the case, it might be better working him on your own for a bit and get a few kills under your/his belt, keep at it pal, that first kill is hours away only.
  22. there you go pal some pictures for you now.
  23. Apart from the one on the main thread, it wont let me upload any, if you are interested send me your email address and I will send you some.
