  1. That would be a 4some......or you just going to watch?.. If you can sort it for me I promise I will just watch honest, and well spotted that man have a gold star.
  2. That's fair enough mate cant be helped sometimes, trust me get out on your ground and have a shine around, and see what the rabbit situation is like, do some recalls to the glove in the dark, lit by a headtorch, get someone to pull the rabbit lure or carcass while you put the lamp beam on it, he will soon get the idea, then get him out and entered, you can make some reflective jesses for him I make em out of old hi vis materiel, when he has killed feed him up well on every rabbit, open the chest up and let him have a good feed, then trade him and let him finish his meal on the glove, it will ma
  3. Listen lad, forget muggins and all that boll-cks, lamping is good testing sport and makes for a very fit hawk, and if I were you I would try to keep your male Harris away from hares, HE IS TOO SMALL, and will end up getting a kick which will finish him off, he is chasing so it sounds like you got a good bird, get him on the bunnies asap, get him out lamping and catching.
  4. You are in Norfolk and you aint got coneys on the land, well that's damn unlucky mate? What I would suggest is you get some more land asap with bunnies (I know its easy to say sat here behind a pc screen) but if the bird aint got any quarry to fly then it is going to get frustrated very quickly,by all means get out with someone else as you will learn a lot, but try try try, to get some rabbiting, you are in Norfolk for gods sake, I suggest you have a walk round your existing permission with a lamp at night as this will tell you if you have rabbits or not mate, and lamping a Harris is great fun
  5. Well if they are remotely like the old ones they will be a bag of shite, build quality was none existent, doors dropped and they rotted to bits, but having said that if they return 55mpg that is a plus point, I cant think of many 4x4s that will do that.
  6. Cheers mate so did I but the bloodtest came back female so there we go, but these things happen as the breeder said when I was talking to him about it, you left it with the parents the correct amount of time and did everything right but just got unlucky, I am convinced it would have shut up killing regular, but I cant afford to wait with my neighbours, last thing I need is hassle from them, but hayho as I said I have my eye on something else so hopefully all is not lost
  7. There is more chance of me having a threesome with Britney,Beyonce, and lady gaga, as pleasant a thought as that might be it is not going to happen.
  8. Yes mate, very unfortunate, had to go I am afraid started to get vocal, and I have very picky neighbours, a shame as the bird was spot on and nailed its first bunny last week, If it was not for the bloody neighbours, I would have waited for it to quieten down, but I cant afford any hassle, but the upside is I think I may have just found what I am looking for, will update as and when.
  9. Get lamping mate, I don't have a private income either, it is the only way I can get out in the week when the dark nights come, without it I would not keep a hawk, just starting my redtail off on the lamp.
  10. If it fits you buy it, you will shoot better with it than a Purdey that does not.
  11. Well I am still chasing that elusive first kill he needs a bit more training for lamping (as expected) he will only chase if he is right on top of them, when they bolt, and thats not always easy to engineer, cos you never get a good tight squatter where you want one, he has been so close in the daytime a few times now, he even took it apon himself to do a little soaring flight over a warren, and dropped like a stone, but the problem is there are that many holes, that the bunnies only have to make a couple of yards and they are down a hole, but we will keep trying, and it will happen, even i
  12. What a pair of prize c-cks, if I were you mate I would have a word with the one you know, and tell him how close he came to having a H&K pointed at him, people like that just dont have any brains, and the shooting world is better off without them, it matters not one jot to the public if they had air rifles or AK47s, a gun is a gun to them, I just hope you can point out to him what a stupid thing he did, but he is probably too dumb to listen.
  13. So go and enquire at some farms pal, you will not be given permission on here it is a hunting site, not farmers weekly.
  14. Nobody on here is going to give you their permission, I suggest you do some door knocking, and perhaps follow the line of asking if anyone will take you out, but we all have to find our own ground.
  15. I have still got quite a bit of calf leather left, its good for anklets, but a bit too much stretch in it for jesses, I have just moved to paracord jesses so going to give them a whirl, if I cant get on with them, I will get some yak or kangaroo.
  16. Sell the Salukis and get a decent collie or beddy cross sorry mate could not resist that one lol, good luck with your hawking career.
  17. Ye mate the identity store, go there for my leather, very good supplier, have some superb yak leather which is brill.
  18. Standard steel is not much good on the foreshore mate, it does not have the clout of the high speed stuff,it is ok for flightponds ect, tungsten or heavy shot, in your none steel proofed gun, I am looking forward to trying some of the new Eley lightning steel, that should hit hard @ over 1600fps.
  19. Agree with all the above, plus have a look on the modern apprentice, lots of sound info on there, and why not join a local club, a great opportunity to see different birds fly and you will learn loads.
  20. Tungsten matrix or heavy shot will be fine mate, and will do the job admirably, expensive but so what? How many shots do you take on an average wildfowling trip?
  21. As I keep saying Hutchey, get a Nikon on board, you will be amazed
  22. No you don't, if your ticket says any land deemed suitable by the chief constable of that area, it means so long as you have permission, and the land is passed you can shoot on it, hope this helps. So how would the shooter know if the land was cleared without calling the cops? And if it wasn't, they'd need to inspect it. 23. Forget the Hawke, as tempting as the offer may be, and buy a Nikon, you will wonder why you put up with an inferior scope for so long
