The Iranians laughed at Jimmy Carter in the hostage crisis and they are having a chuckle now , they know that the powers that be must get their Boots in the sand to do much good and that is what they want , after a couple of years taking casualties the Yanks will pack it in

It's creeping up slowly but it's coming , buy a small Diesel Car because back in the 70s you could get under the arm Derv but not a drop of Petrol people even put Ads in the Papers 1GALLON OFPETROL FOR SALE BEST OFFER SECURE'S , it was the time of the C B craze and once the word went out that a garage had Petrol all roads leading to it were blocked in Minutes with people trying to buy their 2 Gallon limit , the Iranian are not bothered by the Yanks or the British the only people they fear are the Israelis and I think it will be down to them to sort them out.

This Months issue of The Field is about prospects and prices for the coming Grouse season one item about Blackcock stated that the Record bag with ONE SHOT was 18 Birds [that's a Van full ] and other Records hovered around the 200 mark on driven Grouse Moors . Another item on Fishing a chap wrote that when he was a Lad he stood on the Wooden Footbridge over the River Lune and could see between 3/4 thousand Salmon and Sea Trout that seems a lot to me but the Old Folk around me that all they ate was Salmon and Rabbits all these people are in their late 80s so we are going back to the l

After a lifetime in Leicestershire I had never saw a tick on a Dog though I have caught Ferrets that have been covered in them but here in North Yorkshire the Dog has around three a Week the problem seems to stem from Mole Hills the Dog walks through them the dives on one and goes crazy and if left alone it would stay for hours digging and biting the soil then the Ticks appear on the mouth and Ears, they are easy to get rid of by Dabbing them with Neat Fairy Liquid the Lady next door has the same problem with her Terrier which also is a Rooter, I am told that they are spread by Deer and th

If you say so . In my life time I have been out with some great Ferreting lads and what made them good was their expert use of the Spade..... a good Ferreter digs quick and moves on frig all that Fieldcraft rubbish its nonsense if rabbits are going to bolt they will and now days you have the kit to get them that don't .

More exciting than Boxing .

You said it in your first post ! backtrack all you want but if you go ferreting often you will dig every day if you want a bag of Rabbits , I often read that people never have to dig and I don't believe them because it does not happen and they are Liars
-
You have done well in those 40 plus years and just have two digs ? when I was doing a lot of Ferreting come the end of January 20 or 30 digs a day, were nothing and I know a few lads who have done the same , if your ferrets have only laid up twice in all that time the strain is no good .

Well ! you would think some of the Euro or Micro owners would make an appearance on this thread even if it is only to say "my ferret never kills in and comes straight out when I whistle or I don't need a locator because if it duz kill it drags them out

EUROS , BLACK EYED WHITES , GREYHOUND, MICRO , What do this lot add to the Pot ? all I've had for the last 60 odd years is just a humble Ferret, in the main they have all done what their supposed too except a couple that had to be knocked on the nut, I just try to feed them right handle them and keep the hut clean and give em plenty of work so what do these exotics bring in .
