We blanked on the first morning, saw a few, more than i expected, but one thing or another let us going home empty handed.. the following morning saw us up on our higher ground, we glassed a good buck (for the hill) but it decided to go off on one, running one way then the other and back again, it did this for a minute or so then went out over the top, may be next time.. we nearly bumped two bucks feeding on the grass in amongst the heather, i got him in to about and after what seamed life a life time he took the shot and do
  4. going deaf, yes it can happen but strangley a gun dog will be exposed to such noises all its working life... dont loose hope, 2 of my springers were real bad with gun shyness, now there both picking up etc no problem.. as has been said, keeping there mind challanged with other things , ie retrieves, when there first exposed to gun fire, if its just taken out and made to sit up and listen, its mind has only the bangs to ocupie its brain, which can lead to problems

  8. we took just over the ton season before last, granted not with one dog, but the night in question was on ground where the keeper lamps every night, but for foxs only, the rabbits had learnt, to there mistake, that lamps didnt mean danger, they just claped down... on the night we started at 9ish and were finished by 12, only covering 6 or 7 parks, the estate is about 3000 acres so you can guess how much land was untouched... on ground like this, with rabbits behaving like they do, a ton would be possible for a supremely fit dog with a SENSIBLE man at the end of the slip... i would try it bu

  15. Those long bipods are for fanny`s Drooper and your number`s speak`s good of the ground you shoot on. Good ground can even make a pretender look like a pro Your limited in what you can do with bipods of any height especially if you heavily rely upon them. I remember taking a guy out stalking and saying to him when the Stag stop`s (150 yards) i`ll put the sticks up for you then stand up and shoot him ok? He gave me that look as though i`d asked him to jump out of a plane without a parachute on He replied almost stuttering i can only shoot of a bipod. Lets push through the hedge and i`ll

  17. you need a thread on how not too treble post too
  18. i agree withh what your saying, but for example, say i stole a 14 month old dog, and already had a dog and bitch that i could pass off as the dam and sire, i could easly tell any prospective buyers that they were the parents of the stolen young dog, and id dare bet that 99 percent of folk wouldnt question what was said.. Its a sad fact of life that there will be thiefs who will take from all forms of your life, wether it be from your house, your work or your kennels, and that there is folk queing up to save a few quid with no questions asked wether it be your telly, your works comp, or you
  19. There fine, as for the chances of loosing any of the 3 parts individually, well there very unlikley, theres no need to seperate them completely, to release the dog you only need to un clip one side of the collar, and too loose the 3 bits while attatched topgether well you would have to be plain thick
  20. them sticks in the bottom left dont look like there home made ya pretender you I could offer you a plausible excuse Aliboy like they were left behind by a client of even that i`d found them But in truth they were purchased by me near on six years ago and on the day that they arrived i cut the velcro fastening strap off. Pulled off the the rubber stoppers on the feet removed those silly plastic flange things that are apparently for stopping the things sinking right up to the foam handles I then removed the bolt that connected the two together and replaced it with part of a car ty

(novices will be taken on the range to see how there gun safety is and of course to see if they can shoot straight. the latter goes for FAC holders too) good luck to all that have entered
