most folk who say they shot a tall birds at 55 or 60 yards infact have shot a bird thats only 40 yards or so, 99 percent of shooters well over estimate vertical distances.... as for the bird in question, i dont think it was that high, it was shot well out in front and as u saw it landed at there feet, so id go for 40 yards.... how many have used the eley shooters diary bird distance gauge??? a 60 yard birds is tiny...........

as for badger holes, well i needent answer that... keep well clear... fox dens with out the locator gear is a no no too.... get some ratting on a farm or such like well away from other stuff to start with

just for the hell of it, why is that a problem??? i own a dog who i bought off a messer on here that advertised it as a 100 percent digging dog whos parents were never tested, kc registered show dogs if i remember rightly so i thought id go see if i could get it started on a cub its had a mouse before so thought this would be a good step up for my slayer (if any one wants to go doubled up and trench out some moles drop me a pm i think my dog is ready for thye next step up now) i was that happy i went home and made myself and the dog a new shiney rossette.... It amazes me how the rspb cant even acknowledge the fact that sum species of birds are in rapid decline due to over predation from raptors its a shame these things come to that and i guess we are to blame somwhere down the line your right enough we probably were to blame somewhere along the line, cant see any change in my life time i just hope they eventually see sense

ok fair enough not quite sure how it would be best done.. i see what your getting at with big commercial shoots but there numbers are normally at a decent level come feb, these also get supplimentary food stuffs so dont have that much effect on other species if levels are too high, apart from attracting stuff further up the food chain us mear mortals and our opinions are not going to be heard over orgs like the rspb..... who knows time will tell

no one has suggested a return to the neadotholic days of the past where every thing is killed, but there is a happy level for every species on this earth, once there past this they start to have a snowball effect on other species...
