Alexisrouzee replied to Sweeney-Todd's topic in General Airgun Discussion
i always like getting my gun out bill theres no better feeling when your firing off a few rounds down range and getting good results, i did some 40-60m grouping last night was great will have to let us know hoe u get on with the bunnies -
hi adam, well i only go for head shots as there is a very small chance of wounding because if it misses like my miss judgment of distance did it went over the top, too low and it goes under its chin to the left and its a spinal shot and instant kill and to the right again a miss, i have taken 1 or 2 heart shots with good success but these were close, awkward shots where a head shot was blocked. a belly shot would not take down a rabbit, even with a fac air rifle unless you managed to get the heart shot at close-ish range. i do ALOT of target practice at different ranges and know the limitation

thanks bud!! hi aaron cheers mate the c95 with para cord was a VERY quick and poor attempt at camo for having a walk about, just purchased a ghillie suit for these new permissions as a little treat and it comes with a gun wrap so will give that one a go!! yeah get on it my friend, like i said was literally the last door of the afternoon, next stop would of been home so goes to show just keep on getting out there, get a good covering letter and paperwork in order which always looks good to the perspective client and the hard work WILL pay off well thankyou mr phamtom ..
-
hi guys, well as most of you know i have been applying for more permissions recently and today i was ment to go to confirm and get the paperwork sorted for this big 120+ acres i have been told verbally i was okayed for..... after a couple of attempts to call him to arrange a time to meet there was no answer, didnt want to push it so have left it for tomorrow but it got under my skin so off i went!!! thought i would knock a few places up in an attempt to expand my shooting permissions.... try and try as i might but most answers were ''no thankyou, were all covered for pest control...''
-
funny you should say that...... was chatting to a friend of mine, the same one thats selling his s300 which i had a look at..... anyway his father runs a gun shop, he let it slip that he can get the hw100 for trade value for me.....??? dam its tempting!!!!
-
cheers bill, yeah i really hope it all comes together, if i get this land on sunday then it will be the biggest permission i have with a possible another 120 acres (dependant on game keeper) in the pipe line!! it would keep me very busy!! and might warrant a bit of a spend up on a multishot!!! :clapper: all the best guys

Just my opinion , but I would get the power dropped on the gun mate. If you get it tested by the police for any reason you WILL be in possession of a section 1 firearm. With all the consequences that go with that. Hi there mate i'm more that awear of the implications of the first few shots out of the gun. its a difficult on as i dont really want to drop the power as the other 60 odd shots will then be down when they are nice and consistand at around the 11.9 mark just because of the first 10 or so shots, exspecily when i dont fill the gun to max to avoide this. but im fully awear of wh -
i have a 10-40x60 scope and very rarely go above 10x to be honest a rabbit at 220m in a field out the back of mine is still clear at 10x so seeing as my longest ever shot was at 60m then thats fine for me!! i had a hawke 3-9x40 before that and that was always set between 6-9x its worth noting that as your mag changes so does all of your mil-dot adjustment and seeing as i have spent bloody ages working that out i try not to change it!! 177 or 22 for hunting
Alexisrouzee replied to paulredtop's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
i know alot of people who hunt successfully with both .177, .22 and .20, there is a real debate going on in all the mags with ''which calibre is best for hunting'' and i honestly believe its down to personal preference at the end of the day.... all caliber's will kill any small quarry with a well placed head shot out to 35m, easy!! a good hunter with confidence in his weapon and his marksmanship principles will go alot further with a clean kill..... a .177 has a flatter traj than a .22 but is evenly matched with the .20 but the .20 has more energy transfer at the end over a .177. i would
