  1. Standing by to eat my hat if they do it
  2. Wow that looks professional, was that bought as a kit or did you build it with sleepers? Just bought the timber and built myself Very nice, I've just used a load of stone from the old 1970s rock wall fireplace we had taken out, it does the job and we've got cabbage and lettuce growing but I would like to make something smart like that for next year.
  3. Loads here but there are very few badgers on the island
  4. Louise Mensch is a drug addled lunatic you should follow her on twitter Not so funny is that she constants bangs on about wanting war with Russia...the country that has the biggest nuclear arsenal in the world
  5. He can be a great dog off the lead once we've burned off his excess energy, he loves flushing pheasants and hunting rabbits (which were in short supply in Stockport) there are some great places here that are public but are rammed with birds. In hindsight he could have made an amazing rough shooting dog as he has no fear of getting in to cover which is rare for labs. Once I discovered good places for him to hunt I had more fun than I've had in 7 years of shooting just watching him put up birds. He is still an arsehole though lol
  6. I sent him to a professional gundog trainer once (when I was working overseas) it was supposed to be for two months and after 4 weeks I get a phone call saying you have to take him back as he is untrainable...when I got him back he couldn't even walk to heal
  7. Thanks mate He has made my life a living hell mate lol but it taught me more about dog behaviour than all the books in China
  8. same for anyone who has an issue with mass immigration
  9. Just questioned the wife more the specialist said he was very lame but that he was a very stoic dog and didn't want to show pain. Definitely not caused by arthritis which the anti inflammatories should have helped but didn't do a thing.

  11. Casso After the X-Ray confirming mild arthritis I was of the opinion that it happens to us all and that's just life but his condition got much worse in a fairly short amount of time. I kept thinking about the vet's emphasis on "very very mild" and came to the conclusion this is not the cause of the pain for him. I think he's damaged a tendon/ligament or there is some damage to the cartilage and that means without treatment it could just get to the point where he would be unable to walk and we'd have to put him down. I've heard many people say you always ruin your first dog and that's
  12. I did take a look to see if there was any damage and there are a couple of chips or scratches that weren't there but I guess that might have been caused by the tits going in and out? We do have a dell/wood that follows a river at the bottom of our garden I imagine it's would suit woodpeckers. Thanks for all the replies this has been educational to say the least, I just assumed they would be safe in a bird box. The wife said she heard them this morning so some have survived.
  13. We're too honest for our own good I'm just praying that it's just the one leg.

  15. If you shoot it you carry it lol
  16. Self policing is what will lead to our demise not the antis. Great photo I dreamed my daughter would be doing that, can I ask how old she is? Mine is 11 next week Cheers!
  17. Nice one I think my shooting days are over since our syndicate shut down, I don't enjoy the whole getting to know a new group of people and just ever wanted to have a mooch with dogs and a small group of people. I've had some amazing times and got memories that I don't think I can ever beat so I'm not too bothered. It's great to see posts like this where are still working together, hope you all have a great new season
  18. Our cocker loves eating the pieces of horses hoof that have been shaved off when we go to the stables
  19. On Anglesey there is Llechwedd Meats in Llangefni which is the only place I know that does it so far in North Wales.
  20. The complete tripe is a very good food in my opinion, we also bought a couple of sacks of little champ for the cocker until I realised that it would probably take a year for her to eat her way through it it's cheaper and has grain in it but I now also mix it in with the tripe for the Lab. The cocker has a very sensitive gut so we are feeding her a mix of rice, chicken and little champ and the lab gets a mix of tripe and the champ just to use it up. It probably sounds weird but I think you can tell a lot from their shit, the complete tripe is the best of the 3 CSJ foods from my experience e
  21. Nice pics! I'm a five minute walk from the sea and have only been out once. I really need to take some time off from work and get out for a few hours...it would also help if I knew what I was doing
  22. I used stones that came from the fireplace we had removed (for the woodburner) to make a raised bed, it probably looks a bit crap but we've got lettuce and beetroot growing in that. In the greenhouses we have peas and beans, we'll make a better effort next year. I'm battling with trying to remove all the bushes that had been allowed grow out of control before we moved here. We really need a quality petrol powered hedge cutter/strimmer and to hire a chipper because I have no idea how we are going to be able to dispose of it.
  23. Bad news about the elbow joints ,,,,,,were they an injury ? ,,, due to the dogs age ,,,? or some other reason ,,,? I really have no idea, it sounds like wear and tear because this is quite common in humans as well. The problem with him is he has no off switch, if we took him out and let him run he would just go in to full on hunting mode for as long as he can, you would think there was nothing wrong with him but afterwards he really struggles to walk, his left leg is pushed out to the side which means he's putting more weight on the other front leg. The only thing that really chang
  24. Thanks mate Hopefully he will be fine and charging round hunting rabbits like before. 7 is way too young and he looks to be really struggling in the last few weeks, before last year he had only ever been to a vet to have his inoculations! We tried the agility stuff and put him back on anti-inflammatories and it made absolutely no difference to him so there is something else going on. I have to hand it to the missus, she is now full time mum, house wife and looking after the new pup and she had to drive from Anglesey to Runcorn only to find their CT scanner had broken down so she's got
