Is the beddy x a dog or a bitch an is it no use with other dogs at all or is it just the same sex and in the kennel im after a beddy x but have a whippet bitch although i have 3 8x4 run systems and only 1 in use at the minute so would be an empty kennel between but wouldnt be any use if i couldnt walk em together. Fell terrier book green hardback..
fresh earth replied to fresh earth's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
I its a cracking book like Seen em on ebay a few times and they went for a fair price its lay in my drawers since i was a kid and had the fell types just thought it mite be worth a few bob for someones collection rather than lay in the arse of a drawer for another ten year lol -
A mate of mine breeds field trial spaniels he always done my pups when i were a kid he had one of those pig dockers takes the tail of and coterises it cleans feck ! Also seen lads do it with a scalple and with a bit string supose to tie it just tight but not tight enough to disturb a feeding pup tails obviously bulk out at the early stages and falls of within a few days to a week never tried it though...

Came over this in my drawers the other day forgot i had it its green hard back good nick all pages there etc think its plummer that wrote it any ideas what its worth its of no use to me now and mite be to a terrier guy.
-
Id take her of them then my pups are always on cooked dog mince i get from my butcher as soon as there eyes open plenty of it the less they take out the bitch the better.
-
Up here we always left em be at nyt but were surounded with open fields so daytime wasnt impossible. On the terrain you speak of it would be a diff story and id have to agree a shine now an then wouldnt do any harm. kris

Saw an old whippet bitch take a vixen almost as big as her one nite when i was a kid she hit it like a steem train was the first fox id ever seen a dog take and has always stuck in my mind she would never be run on as a fox dog mind but she had that one in her. Iv seen lads with 2 bullx's a piece doubling em up for what reason is beyond me as a good mate of mine has some old dogs retired now and barely a mark on them they will have seen 5 nites heavy graft a week most of there life single handed.

anyone ever had a dog with no stamina??
fresh earth replied to scotty2306's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Every greyhound differ's in brains and stamina had an open class sprinter we use to flapp he could give 12 yards to a monky in a 300yrd sprint and be 4 lengths clear coming of the bend but he was often caught by other high class dogs in the last 30 yards of a 360yrd i recon one slip on a rabbit he would be burnt out for the nite we also had an old black bitch was a monky compared to anything else in the kennel but over the 800yrds she would come from the back and pass high grade sprinters and almost every nite she run she'd do a victory lap when the lure stopped i recon shed av run like a lurc -
Most breeders upload the data of each litter nowadays before they leave but people breeding a one of litter mite not even know the archives exists and so wouldnt upload the data for that litter. Alot more people do it now than they did back then. Anyone could upload the details of there pup and all its ancestry from its papers but as i say many whippet owners and the odd litter breeders will be unaware of the site . kris

Sorry to hear bud she would have turned out alrite still a pup. Would have thought they would have started the pup with its 1st injections anyway as they wouldnt have know whether it had been down or not so why give a booster for a jag they couldnt be sure she had. Shame anyways bud hope you find something soon atb .
-
The archives is all done by people putting there dogs on there are thousands of kc whippets that wont be on there only if the owner has uploaded the details will you find the dog . kris

any advice on my pup after injury
fresh earth replied to teddybear's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Give it to someone who will let it grow out of a puppy before they enter it .... I wouldnt slip a 6 month old pup once on the lamp or at any other time on live game never mind ten times the dog will need to retire before its fully grown . -
Pet show breeders 8weeks working dogs to me should be of the bitch on the 5th and get the milk [bANNED TEXT] of her my pups are eating from the day there eyes open so its no problem to them coming of the bitch at 5 weeks no matter what garbage the know it all's tell you about pups needing the bitch's milk to 8 by that time the teets are chewed to bits and take double the work shifting plus there should be plenty in there meat to give them all they need. Always been told by the greyhound boys since i paraded that epsom salts takes the milk of a touch in there meal each day for a week and y

Poor child . Never met a working collie yet that didnt have a bite in it. as for the punching etc i personaly would blame the handler as if any of my dogs ever took hold of something i sure as heck wouldnt need to punch it to let go and if it had a grip of a child punching and kicking would only dog worse id have taken its balls or a bitch id have just grabbed its jaw worst outcome if it takes hold of you in which case there would be no need for a vet to put the thing down. Working collies should not be kept in a pet home.

Was looking over this weks cw and saw the article on the dda and the rottys in dundee there. Its not half bloody time they realised banning breeds wont change anything. They are starting to realise its the people and specific animals who need to be dealt with and not an entire breed of dogs!! Its utter idiots like this who are giving these breeds a bad name by sheer disrespect and poor husbandry. Personaly i cant see why the owners got away with keeping them after the 1st incedent. Its crap like this that lead to the banning of the pitbull a breed that for 10s of years has been specificaly bre

Seen an open class greyhound run and win with an inside toe of at the front an a midle at the back he also had his tail removed due to constant bursting maybe a one of but seen him set a track record and make a tit out some handy dogs. Get it of mate itl make no diff to the dog at all as already stated will save more time and repucutions, Only time it would be a problem is 2 toe's on the one foot dog would be dun .

Nothing more dangerouse than a guarding type with no trust for man. I rear mine in the house with the family as i do my other dogs plenty socialisation and crowded places they switch on as they mature and it comes natural my old ab bitch 27" would run for an hour at the side of my push bike with the whippets jump anything and if you come over my dyke you wouldnt have left nor would anyone have heard her. Most trustworthy dog ever i owned among kids but very untolerant of other bitche's. Second is the cane corso 35" plus at 11 months or so roll over for any kid or woman but run before he crawle
-
I dont drive so i trot the dog with the push bike for an hour every morning walk them at nite for 2 hours on hills and throw a ball down constantly almost was out the other day first day i run high ground on steep slopes dogs had been lay up for a bit and i got 2 out of 10 couldnt beleive the diffrence in stamina since last season so have uped the training again if the ground had been flat it would have been different but i have to show face on this land to keep it or it would have been a month before i hit it .
-
Sorry to hear that bud best thing for him though no more suffering now its not uncomon unfortunatly and is never nice no matter what the outcome. Hope it dont put you of bud. R.I.P Blue Kind regards kris.
