  1. Its still quite cold here so I'll be ferreting until I see daffodils then my gear will be away. I got a young one in December around 5 weeks old though so god knows whats going on?! The farmer who I have permission for wants me to clear rabbits all season so I'll be putting my rifle to the test shortly. I have permission on the local sand dunes and its sanctioned by defra and the RSPCA to start on 31st Oct - 31st March, all this climate change makes me wonder just how long we will be ferreting in the future?
  2. Im only laughing because I did the same thing a few years ago! Like coney catcher99 says - its cheaper to buy a new light The snag for me was I had to pay an electrician to come and fit it since Im BANNED from all things electrical!! Long story, to cut it short - I mowed through the wire on my lawn mower and picked the wires up holding the join in one hand and continued til my neighbour came running over to stop me! Oh, then there was the time I watered the spider plant above the TV and the TV went up in smoke , then the christmas tree lights I just shoved the wires into a plug that was
  3. Oh poor little thing! I hope it gets found.
  4. I did make this which seemed to work quite well in the toilet area - it really saved the floor from being ruined by all the urine. It was easy to take out once a week and wash too.
  5. Forgot to say, I covered the floor areas with fablon just to save it a bit.
  6. Here's what I did when I had that hutch, I used some stuff (Cant remember the proper name for it ) I bought at a big pet store that is like tea bag corners and lots of it in the sleeping area. I changed it once a month.
  7. I did that too and they just tore it to shreds!! Like I said, just pick the mess up daily and clean it out properly once a week.
  8. Your ferret will choose its own toilet area, like Kay says I would imagine it will use the bottom area. When I had that hutch I used to get a plastic bag and pic out all the muck/ wee every day and clean it out properly once a week. If you have any ideas about buying a corner litter tray then dont bother - I did that and it didnt work at all, the little buggers just tipped it all over the floor Believe me, Ive learned so much about ferrets over the last year
  9. at the end of day, it depends what money you have to spare, but be warned, ferrets are very ADICTIVE, once you have one, you'll want more, and buying a hutch, that becomes to small in a few months time, means more money in the future I couldnt agree more with that!
  10. Its a fab looking court isn't it! I cant wait to get one. Like you say mind - small world eh.
  11. hello mate the red fillter is used to find your rabbits in the field. not being as bright as the white beam you will not scare the rest off the field in while looking for them . use the red fillter to find um get as close as you can then switch to the white beam when your rabbit makes off the closer you can get to the rabbit the better chance your dog will have hope this helps ya happy lamping Good advice! Thats how I use my amber coloured filter.
  12. great looking ferret box there! How long did it take to make?
  13. Well done! Its great to be out ferreting eh Great bag too.
  14. I'll put a few pics up of accomodation Ive had in the last year or so. The one your thinking of getting is ok in fact Im sure its the same as one Ive had before. If you decide to get that one then you'll have to put a sort of lip right across the front to stop the wood shavings falling out constantly. I built a court onto that hutch and then got covers for them both which worked out well - then my other half started complaining about all thye wood shavings all over the garden every time I cleaned it out so I decided to get the one you saw in the pet shop and placed it on a concrete bottom wit
  15. Ive never wormed my ferrets and they've always been fine.
