  1. At last!! Some answers Ditch, I really appreciate your comments Im open to constructive criticism if it means its right! Ive taken your comments on board and have modified the risk assessment. Comments from other likeminded people will be very much appreciated.
  2. Ive just devised a risk assessment for the pigeon shooting. I'd really appreciate any comments, negative and positive as Im intending to hand in the document in the next week. Thanks to all. Risk Assessment for control of pests (Pigeons) with air rifles. Location: ________________. Hazards: Possible injury to people and/ or damage to property. 3. We went out on wednesday night on my permission. We got there around midnight and after about 5 minutes I couldnt even feel my fingers it was so cold! I didnt know how I was going to slip the dog I had tied round my waist (He's so strong! ) After 20 minutes of walking though I had soon warmed up. There wasnt a bit of wind so the rabbits could hear us coming a mile off. What I did notice though was that it took them ages to respond to my lamp with the amber filter on So thats staying on for a good while yet. We only stayed out an hour and a half as the ground was frozen solid and my mates l
  4. I've been giving her cranberry juice which is equally as good for cystitis, but I'll try giving her some of that too. Thanks again to everyone.
  5. Finally got a sample off her today! Went to the vets who tested it and said she has cystitis! Poor soul - Ive been yelling at her and its no wonder she didnt want to go. I took my Patterdale to just to be on the safe side and she has a urine infection So they're both on antibiotics for 5 days. £36 altogether which I think is quite reasonable. Thanks to all for the sound advice So, this time next week it should all be back to normal here.
  6. Good. Its worth a read. Thanks.
  7. Yes, she is speyed - I'll ask the vet what he thinks as I suppose it could be that? As for getting new rugs, Im in agreement with you on that one but the boss says new rug every time
  8. Just in the mornings. It may well be a urine infection Its worth a trip to the vets I imagine just to be on the safe side Thanks for that advice. I'll get a sample off her tomorrow and get it to the vets.
  9. My white lakeland constantly buggers off to look for rabbits! Luckily for me she just stands at the holes and marks them til I get there. Ive trained her to 'check' when I want her to do this and to 'come' when I want her back at my feet. This was a nightmare initially and took ages for her to do as she was told. Eventually, a positive reward (Treat) when she did come back and a negative reward (Completely ignored and put on the leash and taken home) when she didnt seemed to work, but believe me, it was not an easy task as she is a stubborn, head strong dog. It took a lot of patience and effor
  10. My Patterdale had the same problem for ages! I used antibiotic drops and within a few days the problem was gone. I do find however, that when she goes to the beach the next day the problem is back and Im forever cleaning her eyes for a few days with cleansing wipes that are designed for childrens eyes - this also seems to help when its not too bad.
  11. Over the last few weeks one of my dogs – who normally never urinates in the house has started urinating on the floor every morning . When I get up there is always a puddle of urine for me to clean up. She gets loads of exercise, her feeding time is regular and there has been no change in her routine. I’ve tried everything I know to cure this problem to no avail. I’m now on to my 6th rug and its costing me a small fortune to replace them. She’s an excellent marking dog and she is very intelligent and always picks things up quickly so I just don’t understand why she’s doing this. Do
  12. Is that the same in England?
  13. Oh thats so very kind of you! I am insured - luckily. CSA membership. Im very familiar with 'risk assessments' as Im a nurse but 'On site risk assessments' are a new one to me. I'd be very grateful if you could send me a PM with the relevant info or post it on here. Thanks again.
  14. I’ve been offered some pigeon shooting permission at the local harbour . In order to get a signed, sealed and delivered deal I have to provide a risk assessment as to how its going to be done and how Im going to make it safe when I go. Apparently they had some lads there a while back who shot one of the nearby residents cats and there was an uproar at the time – this is the rationale for having to provide a risk assessment. So, has anyone got any suggestions as to what I should put together to show that I’m safe and trustworthy? Thanks in advance.

  16. All of a sudden my board settings have changed? All the posts apart from the first one on the page are now in a list form. There's probably a very simple way of changing it - but I dont know how to. Can someone please tell me how to do it? Thanks.

  18. I quite agree! What I will say though is that permission is a bit like buses, you wait ages for one and then several come at once! Keep at it, I did and Ive got quite a bit now.
