  1. Lots of people ask that kind of question here. It's not necessarily a problem. Get your local fireams people to take a look at it. Halam
  2. I saw these playing in my garden today http://www.lotsofjokes.com/squirell_wars-picture-813.asp
  3. I say this gun today while I was picking up another from Watchman. Looked pretty straight to me. He is a sound guy too. H
  4. Thanks Watchman, Great meeting you, the boys are thrilled by the gun. Cheers, Halam
  5. How many shots did you put in at each range? Enough for a proper group I hope. Was it windy enough to blow the pellets off course? H
  6. Is it better at say 25 yds? If you figure at very short range the scope has to point down to cross the line the pellet flies on because the scope is above the barrel it makes seance. You don't say what calibre or rifle your using but 25 to 35 yds is often a more appropriate range to zero the sights at. Then learn how much to aim off to nail targets at different ranges. Let us know how you get on. H
  7. Look here: http://www.basc.org.uk/en/utilities/document-summary.cfm/docid/F5F7DD08-9471-4DF6-AD6B7F1FD074B235 looks like you can be gifted the shotgun or borrow one. Some less official shotgun clubs are not permitted to lend guns to non licence holders. Halam
  8. And I can even pay by paypal, how can a bargain bee so priceless? H
  9. Thanks I've been looking at reloading, how do you close the crimp? Cheers, Halam
  10. Hay, I've just bought a 410 from our own for sale section and need to decide what to feed it. It has 3" chamber and I intend to use it for rabbits after getting to know it on clays. So any ideas for a good price and clean kills? Cheers, Halam
  11. I often fancy doing a bit of armature radio while waiting for the bunnies to emerge...
  12. I'll have it please, ideal for my boys and I'll probably shorten it again PM on the way and we can work out when I can get over to pick it up. Cheers, Halam

  14. I see and kind of agree with you but I want to understand these things better. It seems normal to make all sorts of tweaks to a rifle but not to a scope - why is that? H
  15. &nbsp is html web page mark-up for a space (specifically a non break space between words where you don't want them split between lines) normally you wouldn't even know they are there but for some unexplained reason they are showing up in that post. Just ignore them. H
  16. Hmm, its a matter of personal preference but lets raise some observations What you know best is probably what you can shoot best with. Excellent groups can be shot with low mag Simpler scopes weigh less Simpler scopes are cheaper, so you may get more for your money if you spend the same Low to medium mag takes advantage of your wider pupils in marginal light Low mag gives less problems with parallax and has greater depth of field making near shots easier Low mag gives wider field of view and makes it easier to find your target quickly I shoot smaller groups with 6x mag than 3x but n
  17. My mistake , it's shotguns that can be borrowed by other certificate holders. :icon_redface:
  18. I think it's worth talking to you local Firearms dept. You will need your own FAC but that will enable you to borrow his guns. If I remember right you can borrow them for a short while (48 Hrs?) but I can't find information about that on my FAC. Alternatively the same rifle can be on both your certificates. An area to think about is if you are going to get a gun safe of your own. You could only share access to his if all the firearms are on both certificates - unless perhaps there are trigger locks on any that you don't both have on your certificate. Depending on where you live it's u
  19. Chaps, I bought a second hand scope with mounts for £15 which is great because I don't mind if I kill it trying to fix it. Anyhow the problem is the AO adjustment is way off which is particularly a problem at shot ranges where I cant get focus and PX at the same time. At longer ranges, when I adjust out PX fee at 45yds the scale reads 170yds. I'm guessing the cross hairs have moved due to use on a springer. Is there a book or web site I should read to learn how to fix this sort of thing? Cheers, Halam
  20. Thanks Matt, It always worries me there may be legislation I don't know about. It took me ages to find the Act where the 50ft from the road bit is and I wanted to read it for my self as its often misquoted and I was gearing up for an argument with my firearms officer. It's in the Highway not Firearms Acts so presumably you get points for an infringement Cheers, Halam
  21. I don't recall anything in law that requires expanding ammo for hunting.
  22. I kept calling mine every week. The problem was waiting for the medical report so I repeatedly called the GP's secretary then let the FEO know I'd done it so he didn't have to. If they know your going to call then there is more reason for them to do something. Sometimes it seems like I chase things for a living, you just have to keep on going on and on and on until you grind them down. If your not getting anywhere you have nothing to loose by becoming a pain, and if there is a problem you should get a straight answer if you ask: whats holding this up? H
  23. A disabled farmer trying to kill a fox accidentally shot and wounded two burglars raiding a cannabis farm he did not know existed. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/21/20101217/tuk-farmer-accidentally-shot-burglars-6323e80.html Would you belive it? H
