    Thats some thing I have yet to get experiance of. Do they go in the general direction your shooting or are they likely to end up anywhere? If they could go anywhere how do yo shoot safely at all? Some nice videos on youtube of people being hit by their own bullets H

    Have a look at the trajectory chart here: http://varmintal.com/17hmr.htm you will see 35yds is in the same line as 125 yds. Zero it at any range you like and change it if you want later on. Cant wait to get mine... Halam

    From what I've read elsware the Sportsman is not scopeable - the bolt handle runs aloong the top. The Super Sport is which makes it viable. Thanks for the tip about magazines, I guess it could always be used as a single shot - all the more reason to make the one shot count. On the other hand I've shot two bunnies where a quick reload got the second when he stopped to - hmm, I dont know why he stopped - he wont make that mistake again. Thanks for the input chaps. H

    We get a lot of praise here for the CZ452, but what do you guys think of the older stuff that costs a fraction of new gun prices? I see on guntrader a number of bolt action rimmies like the BSA Supersport and BRNO 2 in the £50 to £100 range, are they worth hunting down and if so what are the vital checks we should do before spending what is still too much money to thow away?     I confess I see HMR as a way of overcoming my poor range estimation skills. Big open spaces seem to be the worst. It seems to me also that my shooting skills will develop faster if I practice more which is easier to do with 22 with low cost and low noise. H

    So how do you buy a scope? I dont expect a shop will let you take a bunch of them out into the field. Magazine reviews always seem positive and who else but magazine writers get to try a wide range? H

    I like the look of the Marlin 917VS but sooner or later I'd be wanting a few changes, so how much would I pay to have the barrel shortened and screwcut. Mind you I could have a bash at shortening and crowning myself - can always take it to a nice man to sort it if accuracy suffers. The screwcutting seems a bit more critical and need tools I havent got, do people do this themselves? Cheers, Halam

    My word you did spend up on the scope: 4-16x50 MTC Viper. I've been practicing with an air rifle with the mag turned down to 3 and its supprising what I can still hit - a 1 inch target at 30 meters at times 3 which should give me the same picture as 100yds at times 9. But how on earth do you get that steady? Even with a bipod I cant imagine hittng an inch at 100yds. Maybe HMRs are hagnetic as well? H

    Good input guys, thanks. One of my issues is the cost of a HMR rifle compared to an older 22LR, are the cheeper ones worth while for example the Mossberg Plinkster or Marlin? Cheers, Halam

    Ah, I should have said, I have a air rifle and have had some success shooting rabits where I can hide and wait for them at other permissions. With the area I have to shoot now there is only a few trees with 50 to 100m or more meters between them so there is pretty much nowhere to hide. I don't seem to be able to crawl close enough to shoot them with the air rifle before they run off so some kind of rimfire seems to be the solution. So the question is should I go for range or quietness? 22LR appiels because of the low cost which means I could practice a lot more which has to count for somet

    I've finaly got my refernces together and sent of for both FAC and SGC so I'm hoping pretty soon I'll be spending a bit of cash. I've put down for FAC air, 22, HMR and Shotguns, but cant buy them all at once. I recon Shotgun and FAC air will turn up sooner or later, but cant decide if I should go for the HMR or 22 first. The way I see it 22 is cheep practice and quiet, while HMR gives more range at a price. So, it it worth going streigth to HMR or should I get my eye in with a 22 first? I should say I'm after rabits and there is very little cover so I cant get close enough with t
