  1. You can use a shotgun so long as you have permission of course, to use a rifle refer to the terms of your licence. It's a bit of a givaway that if you have to ask then you don't have a licence to refer to so your probably thinking shotgun. H
  2. Winchester Z Long 770 FPS were discussed somewhere recently, but can you get them? http://www.guncity.co.nz/winchester-zimmer-.22-z-long-.22lr-brick-xidp97153.html
  3. Why do you think you cant use on overunder for pigions? Halam
  4. Just what I've been looking for! Thanks for the link. Halam
  5. From what I've read, i.e. talking out of my R's, bad cleaning is more likely to damage the barrel than shooting. If your concerned about accuracy 1st decide what accuracy you will except, then see the rifle produce a group and see if it measures up. One of my frustrations with a lot of discussion of accuracy is how often its not measured or the range is not given, or its not specified if the measurement is edge to edge or centre to centre, even in professional magazine articles - oops I'm starting to rant. 7. If you can judge distance and drop then maybe 100+ yards. If your like me and rubbish at judging range then 60 to 70 yds I guess, but how will you know it's a 70 yd shot? You still have plenty of energy beyond 100 yds but the drop makes accuracy harder. Maybe others will want to tweek these figgures. Halam

  9. If you're on a budget and don't want to travel too far then options are limited. I decided I wanted a multishot with 30 or more ft/LB - the 34 just happened. I understand that the more power makes air rifles more pellet fussy and also uses more air per shot. Now I don't expect to make 30+ useful shots on a normal outing but I may wast 10 emptying the gun when crossing hazards. Would I still do that if I had a safety catch? I'd like to think so, but I'm often tempted not to. My biggest gripe about the PCPs I've tried is they all risk loading a 2nd pellet if you de-cock them (there ar
  10. I just bought an AA s410e doing 34 ftLb which I've zeroed at 45 yds using AA field and its about 1/2" high at 35 and 40 Yds. Mines an older one without safety catch, I was too eager and wish I'd thought about that harder. I could upgrade to the later trigger with built in safety but I don't like the idea of touching the trigger to apply the safety. Alternatives I considered were Rapid 7 which all seemed to costly for me or BSA S10 which I would have bought if one came up locally but I'd have a slight reservation that its said to be too complex for DIY. In the end I got over enthusias
  11. They have been discussed here a few times, do a search on 'cci segmented' or similar. Not tried them myself but I don't remmeber anyone being impressed. Halam
  12. With a 10/22 you get a choice of barrel, 16 is all you need and longer may vibrate more affecting accuracy he said talking out of his... I've a book on modification of 10/22 I can lend you if you want. There are lots of things you can do to improve what some would say is only a mediocre rifle to start with, again I speaking from having no personal experience so make up your own mind. H
  13. Hi Mark, It kind of depends on your rifle and scope, a basic rifle with open sights may be OK in a shotgun cabinet but with a large scope, moderator and bipod you may need a tall and deep cabinet. On the other hand its a good idea to remove the moderator and if you go for a 16 inch barrel to start with even with mod left on your looking at a compact combination. I have a 6 gun Box and find I can get 3 air rifles and a shotty in sideways. You will need a separately locking compartment for ammo for the rimmy but Shotgun ammo does not have to be so secure. A built in lock top is one optio
  14. Heading off towards red lights beyond where I have permission carrying my rifle doesn't seem like a good idea but finding out who the farmer is certainly does. I'm sure my land owner will know. Thanks lads, Halam
  15. I think once the mod is on someone's ticket it needs to stay on someone's ticket or store it at a RFD. Could be the sort of thing your FEO can sort out qucksharp, I was told they pretty much cant refuse a moderator for health and safety reasons. Halam
  16. Hi Chaps, I was out for a walk with the rifle the other night after dark and could see and hear someone in the next field with a rimmy. I flashed my lamp at him a couple of times so he knew I was there and made my way to another part of the farm. I didn't feel comfortable with someone else waving a gun around. What would you have done? Cheers, Halam
  17. Where? What calibre? Would you post? Has it a scope? What sort? Has it a silencer? What sort? How old? Why are you selling?
  18. Interesting topic, I shoot for Sport, Vermin Control and food. I'm not a trophy man, but I enjoy some of the stories and pictures here. I think animals deserver the cleanest death we can give them, but nature is not so sympathetic. Poorly presented trophies may or may not achieve what the hunter wants but I really don't think the dead animal cares at all. In the way we treat dead animals we tell ourselves and others about our attitude and how civilised we are or want to think we are. If you treat animals savagely then perhaps your a savage, on the other hand if you treat the empty hu
