  1. Mine does the same. But it's fine when i actually pull the trigger to fire. Sib
  2. 55 metres according to Chairgun Pro, with Eley subsonics gives the most usable range for me. CZ452 and 3-9x50 scope Sib
  3. Si, Put me down for the new DVD, to complete the collection. Cheers Sib
  4. No replies, so request deleted. Sib
  5. There's a very good video on YouTube that shows how to install your new kit. I've fitted one to my CZ .22LR and CZ .17HMR and it makes a huge difference. Cheers Sib
  6. I took a straw poll on our shoot last season. All members have shot for more seasons than they care to admit. 95% of them use 6's in their o/u 12 bores. One uses 5's. I have not seen any discernible difference in kills. All different types of choke are used. 28gm or 30gm are the favoured loads. I use a 20 bore with improved cylinder and 1/4 and 28gm Eley VIPs and do not kill any less. Cheers Sib
  7. Horrible. Inaccurate and noisy. Tried two boxes then went straight back to my Eley's in the CZ452. Oh and no difference in stopping power, in my experience. Cheers Sib
  8. I have a CZ Style with 16" barrel in .17 HMR. With a SAK silencer, I use it comfortably from the back seat of a Toyota double cab, whilst my mate uses his from the front. Perfect length, although the Weihrauch HW60J is a couple of inches shorter. Cheers Sib
  9. Fantastic value. I've had a rimfire .22LR for 15 years and it's never missed a beat. Just picked up a .17HMR 452 Style and it's very, very nice. Highly recemmended. Sib
  10. I tried them a couple of times in my CX452 and accuracy was abysmal. Also they are a pain to load. I thought it would solve all of my problems and only need to take the rimfire with me. Personally I wouldn't bother and would use my HW100 air rifle at his range (obviously not for foxes). Cheers Sib
  11. Another wonderfully descriptive piece, John. Thanks for taking the time to do these and give us a flavour of your area. Cheers Sib
  12. Any of the 452 models are excellent. I've had my .22LR for over 20 years and it has been fantastic. I recently bought a CZ452 .17HMR which was the Style model and that also is great. Steve Henderson (professional pest controller in Northumberland) swears by his Silhouette model with a SAK moderator. Whichever one you get, you will not go far wrong. Cheers Sib
  13. I would question the vaildity of some of these statements. With a moderartor on both rifles a .17HMR is infinitely noisier than a .22LR. That doesn't matter whether it is bolt action or semi auto. The fact is that the speed of sound is broken with a .17HMR whereas it isn't with a subsonic .22LR round. If you are talking about using the likes of CCI Stingers in the .22LR then the difference is obviously negligible. However, for rabbits, I believe a good set up with accurate sub sonic ammo will be good out to 100yds, if you are good enough. I am not, with headshots, so limit myself to 75 yd
  14. I'm considering one of these myself in .223. It certainly looks the business.Don't know much about the moderator you've got on there though. Is it your first one and how does it perform? Cheers Sib
  15. Wow. That was one of the best write ups I have ever read on the forum. Very descriptive and emotive - I almost felt as though I was there with you. Thanks for sharing. Sib
  16. As Les says, this could be a problem with your ammo going supersonic. I have used a Parker Hale on my CZ452 for the past 15 years and using Eley subs, the only noise you hear is the bullet hitting the rabbit. A SAK or PH or anything similar will do a good job, but before you waste your money, but a box of Eley or |Winchester and see if that makes a difference. cheers Sib
  17. So its like i said in post 2 you will not get a ir laser under £120 unless you find one second hand Thanks - I'll have a look at that one. Regards Sib
  18. I am in the same position and have just started looking. There is a great choice out there and everyone will give you a different answer. I have tried Howa 1500, Tikka T3, CZ, Remington 700 etc. I think they will all do a good job, so at the end of the day it must be what feels comfortable for you to shoot and what your budget is. So far I must say the Tikka T3 and the Remington are my favourites. Sib
  19. Sorry - perhaps I didn't explain myself very well. I already have gun mounted lamps. What I wanted was a laser that I could use solely with the Aldi Night Vision scope and then when I had spotted the rabbits use the lamp to take the shot. The shortest time the lamp is on the better, so as not to spook the horses too much. Thanks Sib
  20. I have an Aldi night vision monocular. It is not bad for the price and I only want to use it for scanning our rented paddocks for rabbits. We have horses in the paddocks, so I don't want to spook them with the lamp, only turning it on at the last minute before I use the .22LR or .17HMR. Can any one suggest something small/relatively cheap that will enable me to see out to 100yds? Thanks Sib
  21. Kent was just under three weeks, including a visit as I was changing to an open certificate at the same time. Sib
