  1. The side opening Larsens are supposedly better for catching crows than magpies. How practical that assessment is I don't know as I haven't used side entry traps as yet.
  2. That'll do niecly for the next life!
  3. I would bow hunt if it was legal here in Ireland. It's not the crossbow that's at fault. It's the moron using it. That bolt is only good for targets. Look up a bit about broadheads and how they kill.
  4. To be honest I lost interest in the whole thing some time yesterday. Principle remains the same
  5. Something that would equal or come close to David MacDonalds "Running With The Fox". We have lots of ravens here, I'd like to find out more about them. As always there's plenty of shit information out there, but are there any gems? ATB, John
  6. The free vote to repeal the hunting ban is worth as much to hunting lads as a free vote in the house of common(s) (thieves) to bring in PR is worth to the Lib Dems.
  7. Lol, not quite in the same league is it.

  9. I found a den on the lower slopes of Mweelrea, a spot where a fox had eaten a lamb coming down towards Kylemore Abbey as well as lots of fox scat on both walks. The most surprising discovery I've made since I've been at this craic has to be finding lots of fox scat and three distinct areas with strong fox odour on the top, yes, the top, of the Maumturk Mountains, which are just over 700m high at their highest point. There ain't exactly a lot up there to eat! But there were lots of fox signs all the same.
  10. Thanks for that CW, I didn't know it might damage them. Don't think anything got bent, but I will check them just to make sure
  11. An hot bad FS, I do get around yanno ;) How's yourself?

  12. When I got them I tested both traps out with the end of a brush handle. When I saw how far the killing bar on the Kania sunk into that handle, well, I don't need to remember to be careful with that yoke I'm very happy with my first ratty in the fenn
  13. Been out feeding some of Dads sheep. We've finished up feeding the hoggets for the year so I brought along the .223 to see if anything would happen my way. Played cat and mouse with a few greycrows, the place is very open so it's hard to get near them if you're just out for a walk. I was heading back to the car and only just about eye level with the final hill when I spied a greycrow perched on a nice safe fence stake. I dropped as quick as I could as the crow was looking the wrong way, moved to my left and crawled up the hillock. A boom, a pop!, and a somersault later this guy won't be peckin
  14. Ever since I bought some barley last year I've been busy ratting with live catch cages. Got fed up of that craic so I deployed two fenns and a kania. All baited with a mixture of barley and peanut butter. Keep having to remind myself to be careful with the fenns, not used to using spring traps! Halls soothers won't help this guy.
  15. I find them offensive because of their attitudes and policies.
  16. 125 councils declared out of 164, BNP are -22 councilors at the moment If they keep doing this good they may well disappear altogether. Here's hoping
  17. 17%, do you mean nationally? They've just about broken the 1.9%, and no seats thank God.
  18. You would be very surprised at how long the shakiest of coalitions will hold together if it's in the interest of the parties concerned.
  19. I voted Labour, seeing as polls as to who will win the election on shooting/hunting sites are as predictable as turkeys voting against Christmas
  20. Indian for me, not the biggest fan of Chinese food.
  21. Fantastic series, genuinely funny.
  22. An idea I've though would work, and seen a fella rig up the apparatus, is if you were to get one of those PIR sensors. Attach it to a stick or pole. Put bait out in front of it and have the PIR sensor covering the bait, red light should come on when fox is at the bait. Or, you could try leaving a static light beside some bait and keep an eye on it. May or may not work. I guess the trick is for you to know he's there before he knows you're there.
