  1. That'll be down to lack of sleep Dave, take a night off ffs Well done on the other fox.
  2. Not supposed to shoot from or off a vehicle, even on private land, here so it's all on foot for me. Anyway, ground here would swallow, turn over, block, or kill most of them Which isn't a bad thing.
  3. Plot line. :realmad: :weight_lift2: :wankerzo4: :headshot:: :protest:
  4. Remington VL SS .223, comes with the Boyds laminate thumbhole stock as standard. I've fitted a Jewel trigger myself, then had the action pillar & glass bedded and barrel screw cut by a rifle builder. Much more accurate and consistent now.
  5. Thanks all. No, I didn't try for a third. As I say I wasn't even going to bring the bolt. I've a cold or some dose all week so wasn't up for a regular night out. Lamp is a scope mounted Lightforce Striker 170. Farthest fox I've shot with it has been 275 yards. Given the right conditions, contrast between fox and background, moisuture in the air blah blah it'll go farther, if or when I choose to shoot foxy that far away. I prefer to have them in close.
  6. I went out tonight to check whether my lamp modification cured the slight light feedback being reflected from the mod into the scope. I took an 18cm plant pot, cut most of it away only leaving a lip out over the scope, the shadow of which covers pretty much all of the T8. Seemed to work fine. Thought since I was out I'd take a short walk up the path and out onto the hill. As soon as I'd reached the gate leading out to the hill proper I saw a fox look and turn away from me ambling out the old path. I quietly, and slowly unlatched the gate, got through and closed it up again. One of tho

  9. What went wrong was it wasn't me with the rifle It was someone else who wants remain anonymous who missed IT WAS ME !!! i missed the other 2, be fair though Dave the 1st one was running away as soon as the lamp was on it, Tried my luck but to no avail. 2nd one i should have taken out, but the long grass didnt help Never mind you can always go out with the NV and get them, thats if you can call them in Sure it'd be no fun if they were all easy
  10. That's a nice haul of bunnies, well done the both of ye
  11. Haven't been yet, got an attack of the lazies! I did indeed, just need to get around to replying
  12. It sure is, I have shot modded rifles before but I like seeing where my rifle is hitting as I'm shooting it
  13. What went wrong was it wasn't me with the rifle It was someone else who wants remain anonymous who missed That's fair enough, I wasn't looking for a name at all, just curious Happens to us all.
  14. Ah I doubt I'll go out tonight again. I've a full day on tomorrow and would like not to be yawning my way through it I may go for a pop at a bunny or two later on if the humour takes me.
  15. It'll be a fun winter trying to round the other two up, what went wrong?
  16. Nice bag of bunnies ye got there Ian, fox doesn't look all that impressed with ye though
  17. I went out for a ramble to clear my head earlier on and give the newly moderated .223 a run. Went for a stroll through my farm and a couple of the neighbours fields, nothing much to see besides sheep. The moon is pretty bright and the cloud is patchy, the wind wasn't in my favour in this area so it was a case of making do. I moved on from that spot to near where I shotgunned the last fox, overlooking a large patch of flat bog. The moon and the wind were both in my back, with a hill behind me I was happy I wouldn't be seen but more thoughtful about the foul wind. After a time calling a pair
  18. Wabbits is funny things. Once shot one through the shoulders with a hollow point .223 bullet, both smashed to bits and what I thought was the heart was out of the animal also. Fecker still made it arms length down the burrow.
  19. Love my .223!

  20. I'll have to have a look at your rifle when I get back home PK. Not all that sure on full custom rifles, only starting to dabble in getting bits and pieces done, but I'm liking it a lot
  21. That's good shooting Jamie I'm looking forward now to getting a bit more ammo and reaching out a little more than I have been
  22. Good result for the rain Dave. I don't tend to see them from the house when it's raining
  23. I tell you what you would like, when I was up at ICR I got to fondle a BAT action. Smooth is not the word, it's unreal, like it's floating. I think the action along was €1800 so too rich for me, but nice to have a feel off none the less! Thanks Dave, I'm quite conservative when it comes to headshots. The good thing about target heads is they tend not to move It's the sheep farmer in me, reluctant to take the chance of a miss when foxy is in the cross hairs.
