  1. What was it Napoleon said about good or lucky generals lol, as long as I can be consistently flukey I'll be delighted Yeah it's a Remington 700 VL SS in .223. I didn't shoot any paper at 350 so I can't tell you, just shot the clay pigeons that were laid out
  2. Pillar & Glass bed, recessed crown, new extractor. Should be remembered I am definitely not the best shot. Hornady Vmax 40 grain moly 107 yards. Fouling shot went low to the right. Five group shots went into 0.5" Ten minute break to cool barrel, low on ammo, three shot group went into 0.4" Consistent clay busting session at 353 yards, corrected 11 inches up from my +1" @ 100 yards, corrected 12" to the left for wind, first shot was to check elevation, second and other shots went pfft pfft pfft pfft pfft pfft into clays. Outshot a Sako TRG .308 with S&B
  3. There will be some differences between brands. Depends what you're feeding the rifle and how much it likes or dislikes them. There is also a difference between zeroing and shooting in the field. Zeroing is done at a predetermined range, in good conditions, with a good rest, at a time you're rested and content so your heart rate is nice and slow. Shooting in the field is done in variable weather, at differing ranges, sometimes using marginal at best rests, after you've walked/crawled/ran 10-300 yards, under time pressure. So it could be either
  4. Took a notion to go out for an hour tonight. It was only just about windy enough for a stroll with the shotgun. Loaded up with some Eley fibre wad BB's, my EagleTac torch and off I went. I took a ramble around my own farm, I've been seeing fox scat around the place lately. But, nothing was to be seen there tonight. My next port of call overlooked a large expanse of flatish bog exposed to the wind. There's a good hill behind me so with the dark night I'm invisible and silent. A quick rabbit squeal shows a pair of eyes less than 100 yards from me. The eyes start bouncing in towards m
  5. Got three a few nights back. It's bright too late for me this time of year, get in at 3.30am like a zombie the next day, no fun!
  6. Enjoy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bU3_kO5Z1jM
  7. Ah yeah, but it's not as if the ordinary person on the street get to chose who runs the place, the richest candidate usually wins. So I'd discount that lot entirely. God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference.
  8. I think the yanks are fantastic
  9. Anywhere online that sells these that isn't written in French? ATB, John
  10. I agree with Clint, it's too bright. I see it's LED so can't say how long it would last. I'd give it a miss myself.
  11. Yes, very clever trick that, not seen it before in a RL bench, not that I get to see any REAL ones! Lol.
  12. Tell ya the truth, I cringed when I heard the words camo job on a Sako stock, but, in fairness, that looks really well
  13. Hunt around for a second hand Sako Finfire. I had a Sako quad in .22lr for a few years, very good rifle. Traded the barrel in for a HMR as I wanted some extra legs for crow bashing. was getting sub inch at 100 yards, sub half inch at 50, killed an awful lot of vermin with it.
  14. Zero closer in, I suggest 60 yards. Set out targets in 10 yard intervals from 10 - 100 yards. Shoot at them without compensating and record the POI high/low and by how much on each. That will tell you exactly how loopy the .22lr trajectory is, there's no better way of getting an idea than doing it and seeing the results first hand, sticks with you. Aside from that, use the best possible rest available, prone and bipod if possible and be consistent, same cheek weld, same trigger pull etc each time. If your own range finding ability isn't the best, invest in a range finder. There's p
  15. If he's confident in his equipment and competent to take the shot there's no reason not to. There's way too much online judging of peoples skills who've never met IMHO. Sorry, no offense meant, but some people are just good at shooting.
  16. Just have a container load delivered and parked beside the house, much easier

  18. I presume you are asking after your .22lr Stubby? Don't bother cleaning the bore. As Martin rightly pointed out, DO clean the outside. If accuracy ever drops off I would be checking everything else first, scope, mounts, mod, blah blah. I think I cleaned my twice when I had it, and both times I knew I'd only wreck my head doing it, and I did!
  19. The only time I cover my rifle is when I'm ambushing grey crows. I used a camo scrim net off Ebay and a few elastic bands, mesh face mask, the right colour clothes, am invisible to the winged vermin.
  20. Is he still at it? Drama queen. He should be given a choice, shoot himself or get shot by a cop.
  21. This has happened before I think? Text goes from normal, to smaller size and bold.
  22. I put up a link to the Irish times article and a copy of the Interpol poster on the British Farming Forum.
  23. Sent it on to my FB contacts Ray. That other site didn't work out - don't ask, shower of.
