Some good, reasonable replies here lads. I can accept there has been drug use for millennia, that is a fact. Governments will do what they always do, use it all as an excuse to rinse the small bloke. That’s very sad to read mate. I can’t really comment on your late wife’s daughter, everyone deals with things different so I won’t be too judgemental about it. However, I’m sure everyone reading this would join me in saying deal with the things you have to deal with in the short term then once the funeral is done have the courage to reach out to someone and talk about how you are feeling. We all get set in our ways and it takes some bottle to break the habits of a lifetime even if that could mean saving our own life.

If she had already taken the legal amount of morphine they wouldn’t have been able to do any more for her at the hospital I dont think mate but I understand why you phoned them, you just wanted to try and do everything you could to help her. However, it sounds to me like she fell asleep exactly how she would have wished, in her home and with you at her side.....she isn’t in anymore pain now mate and she got her wish, that’s one good thing in a terrible situation.

Mate, at times like this it can seem one thing after the other......every other thing is another kick in the bollocks. I held my old man in my arms as he died when I was nearly 11 years old, my mum was a useless mess so I had look after her an all. It was alright for “the grown ups”.....they had other grown ups but I had nobody and my old man was my whole world. There are all different types of characters on this site, they can be howling to hilarious and everything in between. Some of them would hate each other and some would get on well. Mate, you are in a bad place at the moment.......take a deep breath and just give yourself a month. 76 is no age and if your beloved wife saw something in you she would be heartbroken to think you didn’t see it in yourself. Theres is always a sunrise and there is plenty out there for you still. You have cared for your wife with tenderness and love for a long time and there are hundreds of people who really need someone who has that skill and experience........someone who has been there......find them, find an organisation that needs you.
