A builder lad was saying to me the other day that new building regs don’t allow chimneys on new houses ? Said that is why people are not building, too many regs and it’s too expensive to follow them? Dont know how true that is

Free thinking amongst young people is to be encouraged, it’s what built the world, however when something is a blatant false hood that is where universities should challenge young people.....that’s how you build the mentality to debate and respect opinions. You can embrace a falsehood but you shouldn’t force everyone else to embrace it too.......some girls (and maybe boys) don’t want to share a common bathroom with men (wether those men are telling everyone they are a girl or not) ......they deserve to be respected too. I agree mate, but I suppose the whole basis of our conversation rests on if you think that a man can wake up in the morning and be a woman or vice versa. I hear you mate and I totally understand. However it’s not outrage mate, it’s reality......they don’t have to match my thinking, they have to use the resources available to provide the best education possibly. Insanity don’t fall into any of those categories.

You may not know, but if you did know then you’d do something mate. See things like even that silly poster, that didn’t cost nothing to roll out across the campus (if indeed that is what they have done) and the governing body making those spending decisions should all resign because they are obviously very confused about what is a real and relevant as an aid to a young persons education and what is just plane old rhetoric peddling insanity ! I’d pull the plug on any part of my kids education if they were being consistently and remorselessly fed absolute nonsense ! As a governor of an institution I wouldn’t tolerate use of resources for such nonsense, if you can’t find money for books because you are using it to paint rainbows then something is broken and any governor of an educational institution is completely shirking their responsibilities if they allow it. They have one of those “Let’s Pretend” toilets at Stanstead Airport, I genuinely had to stand staring at the sign for a minute until it registered what it was ! One unrelated thing is that I think Police should call everyone “sir” or “Madam” in almost every situation barring life or death stuff of course. I think it would restore the mental link to the phrase “public servant”

Depending on the situation I used to call strangers “sir” quiet a lot, especially older men. If it turned into a more casual situation and it warranted it then the normal everyday “mate” is what I used. Older travelling men I call “Uncle” if we meet and I don’t know them.

Yeah, you are probably right there, I would never try and mug a bloke and all I can assume is that it must of come across how it was intended because they joined in the bit of chat. Someone was asking me about that thing today funny enough and I just said it was like the Wild West round there back then and something was bound to go boss eyed for someone. It wasn’t my scene so I only know as much as the next bloke.

It’s coming back to me a bit now, as I remember I bumped into Tony Tucker by accident in a boozer and as I spun round to say sorry his Barnet struck me and I said “f**k me, it’s Mickey Skinner” because he had a mullet type thing like Mickey skinner the rugby player. As I say, they took it in the right spirit and we had a bit of craic and the next time I heard about them was the other turnout.
