100%, until my boys were born I was the youngest male member of my entire bloodline but a solitary one for various reasons…..as in, none of my older male relatives were in my life at all. If anything it was motivational.

You can’t do it like that, it’s show and tell rather than just tell. Its also personality projection and showing people you believe in them and getting them to believe in themselves……that’s my experience anyway.

What’s the sweet spot between accepting mediocrity and getting lads to do more than they thought they could ?…… I found this comment massively interesting as I have encountered it with adult football and I have to admit, it just breaks me to the point that I can have absolutely nothing to do with it. I know from our conversations that your world is no longer immune from all this “caring, sharing, don’t hurt peoples feelings” shit but in my opinion there are not enough honest, brutal conversations these days…..and we are generally weaker because of that. Best post so far. I take this view, ordinary is easy to come by……there’s a zillion extremely ordinary people out there and one is completely interchangeable with the next. If one of them says “I’ll quit” actually nobody gives a shit. But if you have the knowledge and attitude to know you are better than ordinary, to know that you add value in everything you do then you have to value yourself and be prepared to walk off into the sunset…..but, in my experience there are very few firms who want to loose the people who add value. Just a small point of order mate, but Britain is more like 70 million people and rising ! Something else interesting is that Germanys population is only a couple of million more than it was pre WW2 but ours is about 20 million more !

The inherent weakness in democracy I think must be us, the voter…..after all, we are the ones electing these total pricks. Ultimately it’s on us. So maybe we either need better leaders who are less democratic or better voters ?…….I’m going for option 2 ! I have been listening to an audio book lately and it said you can’t have great leaders in a democracy because everyone ultimately becomes basically career, box ticking politicians/pen pushers who are capable of nothing……they lack the dynamism to make anything better. I think there is a point there…..not saying it’s the way to go, but it’s a point worth considering.
