Oddly enough, planning and architecture was a major contributing factor…..blocks of flats destroyed communities, everyone was a stranger locked in their box if they wasn’t out at work or shopping. I watched a very old programme about the London slum clearances and almost all the people who had received nice new homes after coming from what you describe said they wanted to go back, they felt lonely and it was almost like living in a nick.

I just watched that mate and on the subject of free school meals I think he is talking out of his arse, it’s such a narrow minded un thought out statement to make that it’s almost childish…….again, I’d say, don’t ask who is paying, ask why they have to be there in Breakfast club in the first place ? Let people keep their money so mum (or dad) can stay at home, stop creating a system where people are reliant on being sold ever increasing amounts of debt by the chums at the bank so that only 1 person has to work , stop banks f***ing about selling ever increasing amounts of debt. Less sta

Just my opinion but don’t think about “the council housing scum bags” but rather think about why there seems to be so many of this underclass of people in every day life ?…….the council (imho) are going to house people and they are going to house the most vulnerable so it’s only natural that those who can’t function get the houses……but where did they come from ? Why have we fallen off a cliff in so many areas of society ? There has always been underclasses of people, the gin alleys of the 1700s & 1800s we’re the scenes of poverty and degradation that would be almost un fathomable

Totally agree with the above post, but let’s face facts, for at least 3 decades the young have been told that they should be ashamed to have any national or historical pride, that it was a bad thing, something to be ashamed of. Add to that whole areas increasingly given over to the 3rd word with their 3rd world way of living and it all adds up to people who just don’t care any more. jmho

Just finished The Stopping Places, decent.

Thing that never get talked about are things like how it was English traveller boys who sorted that Brendan Fearon out (one of those scumbags that broke into that farmers house and he shot one)……it wasn’t your great British public who sorted him out with what he deserved in defence of good standards and morals, it was a traveller lad and he did bird for it as well.
-
I get the gist of what you are saying there mate but I take a completely different view, I think travellers are seen as fair game and because they are white nobody says a word. Very few people you talk to or read on social media would have the guts to say about wogs the things they are quiet comfortable to say about travellers out loud…..it’s ignored, condoned even. If the British people had the bollocks to treat the 3rd world invaders the way they treat travellers, if they had the bollocks to say the things about the 3rd world degradation of their areas the way they complain about t

My pal had a routine when we was young men, get absolutely smashed to f**k on cider, go home, put on Dead Kennedys at full blast in the middle of the night/early hours of the morning and have a piss in the foot of his mum and dads bed while they were in it !

The reason people don’t is that nobody wants to get stabbed for a packet of sausages…..this is the level we have descended too, people always say “the uk will be like a 3rd world country” , well, I’d argue that we are there.

Fantastic post mate, bravo.

Reading all these posts is pretty uplifting really, when you see so many lads who didn’t do well in school as part of the “normal” education system and lads who maybe were going down the wrong path in trouble with the law and now their kids are doing ok or are on the path to doing ok. It shows that you don’t have to be defined by your circumstances, which is what I have always believed. Even lads who are having a blip with the kids are working hard to put it right and putting real thought into helping their kids with every bit of their ability…….they may not have the answers yet but

They don’t give us a manual for being parents do they mate, I feel your pain, can’t have been easy for you. He will come good, he just ain’t found his niche yet…..something they do here I think would be good in the uk. They are called vocational schools and they are for boys and girls like your lad (and like I was) who are sick of the school system…..you get to ware your own clothes and they teach you trades and computer skills and all sorts but in a non school setting g where you are treated like a grown up. They are tidy and a trick we could use in the uk

I think that is a decent rule of thumb, much like private healthcare…..they are doing a proper job minus the bollocks. However, I don’t think it’s a rule, plenty of good kids came out of state school. I also think we need to consider (and ask) what kids want their life to look like……a parents idea of success may not be a kids idea of success and I don’t seem much point in torturing them for 5 years in an institution where they are not happy…..it’s self defeating. My daughters boyfriend has a masters in physics and some other shit I don’t understand and was in education until 24

Ditto ! Lol Just got himself a summer job hod carrying, his first proper job, up at 5am every morning and was looking a bit tired first week until he copped a monkey pay on the Friday !…..now he is up and about like a cockerel ! Lol Had good reports back from the bloke that owns the firm so your kids can surprise you.

In fairness mate, I always think when I hear these things “Are they keeping the dog alive for them or for the dog ?” A broken back sounds pretty serious and I can only imagine the animal is in pain and/or discomfort and will be for the rest of its life in all likely hood so why are they fretting about keeping the dog cutting about half crippled ? My mother in law is one of them, all the dogs she has ever had end up mangled and on drugs to keep them going, it’s f***ing cruel to me. Just be kind, do it in and move on.

That creep from the SNP did me in, as did the Welsh bloke……same old clap trap from the lot of them except Reform. Bunch of traitorous wretches !

Got to get myself one of those hats and shirts ! Lol

But now days it’s the winter trip to Aspen or a summer trip to St Tropez (maybe not those exact places but you get my drift), its pony club and cricket whites and the weekend birthday party at Clarissa’s parents weekend house in the Cotswolds and all that old bollocks…..if that ain’t your world and you ain’t some new money “living my best life” melt then you are going to find it very hard to fit in.
-
I will also add, I loathed private school…..I had nothing in common with the people and no affiliation to them at all….. Also now days, it’s not the school fees, it’s the added extras that you need to afford (like the trip to some exotic place or 3 different types of sports kit or whatever) and if you can’t then they are singled out amongst their peers.
-
I actually attended private school for a year when I was about 8 or 9 (don’t ask, one of my mothers airy fairy ideas) and I attended quiet a few ordinary state schools until 14 when they eventually aimed me out of the school system. I then in later life worked closely with schools in a support role as parent governor, reader, helper and generally being around helping anywhere I could. A lad who I went to school with became headmaster in my school after a career abroad teaching in Saudi and Dubai and his wife was a teacher at a local international school in Brentwood. He bought a

In all seriousness, so called neuro-typical people discussing people who’s brain works a little differently is always the same…..it’s always “well why can’t they just force themselves to not do it” or “I don’t believe it has to be as bad as that” Its one of those things that until you have real world experience of it you can never understand it. Anyone ever sit at the table tapping their heel on the ground and not even realise they are doing it ? Same thing…..but yours is accepted and theirs is looked on as weird. Its part of who they are. I think you have to tak
