  1. Where you near mate?
  2. Good and bad in both sexes and all colours, sizes and shapes, but one thing is certain 1 ferret is never enough!!! I work jills myself but also give the hob (small type polecat) a good few sessions during the season and only ever use the hob if called out non season to one of my permissions.
  3. I would soak leg in iced water to keep swelling down around ring
  4. Same as that, In the wild polecats catch whole carcasses guts and all.. So in my logic it,s got to be the best way to feed ferrets. That goes for kits and adults.
  5. personally whole carcass feeding is the best way to go, I think. If the weather is hot I would use dried food as it cuts down on the amount of flies around the hutches. Whole carcass(pigeon, rabbit etc) is natures way for adults and kits and the amount of liver/kidneys etc is then in the correct proportions. Just my view but it makes sence to me. On the subject of flies, we pin net curtain over the run area. Not 100% but helps...
  6. I used to be heavily into the British and go up to the "bird pub" in Bethnall Green every week selling my ware,s.... God, how I miss them days. I still keep 2 Goldie mules, full finch song, and some times I think I should have them again and get shot of my pigeons. Pigeons can break your heart, good race one week, than a fantastic bird ( fed topper) goes missing.. Any info on British just ask.. I,ve had the lot. Linnet and Goldie where my main birds.
  7. Been after buying some small slim ferrets (greyhound or also called pencil ferrets) I,ve had them years ago (from Bristol) and I see them a couple of years ago on the farm next to my house, unfortunatly their owner (Marcel) left and went to E. Sussex before he had any kits. Is there anybody that has them on this forum?? I am after a couple of jills, money and good working home waiting. Please P.M. if you can help. Thanks
  8. Anyone on here going to Highclere tomorrow?
  9. Never had a dog with them removed and luckily have not had much agro with them. Very flinty ground here and more trouble with cut pads than dew claws. Saying that I have only ever had lightwieght dogs under 23 in. But I have always clipped my dogs dews short.
  10. Gamebore clear pigeon 30g No.6 for me everytime. But must say that I am currently using Hull cartridge loaded 28g paper cases that were given to me, and if money was no object I would use these all the time, suit my AYA Yeomen down to the ground.
  11. Personally I never use a filter with the dog, if rabbits too spooky I just give the area a rest for a bit then go on a good dark windy night. Just my way, but may not suit others.
  12. Like a previous post , just a pup trying it on (dog pups more than bitches) just call the f**ker and walk in the opposite direction, heavily praising it when it comes to you. If it refuses to come , call it and hide( as long as there is no distractions) the dog will panic and look for you.
  13. Same as that! Even if the dog only does rabbits. My latest dog is a proper scardy cat on anything that bites back, but at 13 months he,s dynamite on rabbits and good on big rabbits, enough for me and he is here till he meets his maker!! (3/4 whippet 1/8 greyhound 1/8 collie).
  14. Great little lamp, I use mine just for rabbiting and found it ideal. I went to the shop in Petersfield and found them very helpfull. I went there to buy the Blazer with 17 amp pack, after talking to them and telling them my needs I left with LA4 and 7 amp battery pack. No bullshit or sell you the lot, just honest advice from them. Good beam and as I usally only go out for 2-3 hours the battery is plenty powerfull enough. Can see you would possibly need a more powerfull piece of kit for big rabbits in very large fields but for general use I highly recommend. The secondary bulb and small lamp si
  15. Be very carefull with the chocolate please, had to have my wifes APB terrier put to sleep last Easter, because he was a right chocoholic and chored it when he could. Vet said the poisons built up in his body over a long while. He was not even 10 yrs old. Nearly ruined the wife, still goes on about him every day. R.I.P. Big Tony.
  16. Personally I would keep a pot of that squeezy honey in the motor or your bag, it is a totally natural product and is all I put in the water for my pigeons when they return from a race (sometimes several hundred miles in a day), it really does pull them round. My own dogs are given honey on a regular basis, just licked off my fingers, especially in hot weather.
  17. I,m in Solent Fed , prefer channel racing, only keep a small team. Southwell, Bussheart, Jannsen x mainly. Bought a few white Commines in last year for my Grandaughter, will try them this season.
  18. Not even seen a frog in my pond yet this year, usally a few, hope the heavy snow and frosts we had did not wipe them out.
  19. Not pigeon pie but try this, Breast pigeon, wrap each breast in smoked streaky bacon. Put in casserole dish with onions, carrots, parsnips etc. Cover with Shwatz liver and bacon mix and ccook very slow for 2 hour or untill super soft.. The dogs nuts.. Try it!!!!!
  20. Been on it all day!!! Just had a grand old bowl full of stew, nearly got into a bit of a struggle in Winchester over my James Conelley badge I had on.. Never knew anyone would know the craic , never ment no offence!!!
