  1. Wolfe tones without a shaddow of a doubt. Top stuff.
  2. Don,t matter what you got Hibbsy, you still couldn,t hit a cows arse with a banjo.... Remember who won last Saturday.
  3. Can anybody on here recommend a good collar maker for whippets and small terriers... Thanks
  4. Check out the traps on e-bay (type in animal traps- sorry don,t know how to do a link) Who is buying all these from USA? Postage is crippleing. Good old pole trap , shame it,s a bit pricey. Proper collectors piece.
  5. 30 grm Clear Pigeon fibre wad . Faultless cartridge , I use them all the time on rabbit, pigeon, crows etc. Highly recommended. Also use 28 grm paper case (no. 6 shot) for posh days. Local gun shop name but loaded by Hull. Go well in my AYA.
  6. My own personal oppinion is 3/4 working whippet x 1/4 bedlington for 2 reasons. First and most obvious is speed and strike, secondly down here ( Hampshire) if ferreting/bushing etc Bedlington coat picks up too many sticky bags (Burdock) and cleavers (goose grass) so the more smooth or broken coat ,as opossed to rough coat the better. Especially around paws, ears, eyes etc as they drives a dog mad. Please remember this is just a personal observation. A,T,B.
  7. Paddy , Bran, Tip, Murphy, diesel, Charlie, Jake, Jay, Weasle, all I can think of at moment.
  8. Hilman Avenger ECR 815L in 1981. Top motor. Saw many a lamping trip and rear seats were plastic so could be washed after muddy lurchers been in there . Fake sheep skin seat covers on at weekends for the ladies!!! Sold it after a year for a mk3 2000E Cortina.. shear class!!
  9. This do work, you can use yougart pots instead of paper cones. Get the birds feeding in that area for a week or so, make a hole the size of the pot in the ground.(must fit loosly) wipe around edge of pot with the lime (you can use rat glue, or make some up with holly bark or mistle toe) fill pot 3/4 full with whatever bait (dried peas, wheat, raisens etc) you are using and thats all there is to it.. Do not go far away as they will stagger off. You can remove the sticky stuff with lighter petrol or rub it with powdered charcol if you want the birds alive. ATB
  10. Are they on the plump side? If so they will be reluctant to work at stripping a rabbit/pigeon etc untill hungry, hence why they will eat dry food as no effort is needed. Do not replace them if they work well on whatever diet( total madness to do that) . If they are not fattish keep them off flesh for a week or so, they,ll eat it then soon enough. All these complete foods are o.k. but the ferret cannot get everything it needs from a man made diet.... They are flesh eaters after all.. ATB mate
  11. Personally I like pickled quails eggs. Just use Sarsons ready spiced clear vinigar . Its so easy and the jar the vinigar comes in will hold 3 dozen eggs. I like to leave them 6 weeks before eating.
  12. Always found dogs go for heart (lamb, pork or beef) even when off their food. Roast it under foil ,chop it up and serve it to the pup with the juice\gravy that comes out of it. If the pup has the squits withhold the gravy. Just my method but works for me. All the best mate.
  13. Just keep walking the dog on a sliplead up to squatters , (keeping the lamp on the rabbit) and quietley talking to the dog "look" "look" if the rabbit stays put , when you know the dog has seen it and is pulling on lead , slip it. If the rabbit bolts , follow it with beam but only slip the dog if you know its seen the rabbit. Keep on doing it and the penny will drop. Most likely sooner than you think. If you mutter to the dog "look", "look" everytime you light up a rabbit the dog will associate that with what the beam is about. All the best....
  14. Tin cat or ketchall are good multi catch traps for mice. Might be some on e-bay. Sticky boards or rodent lime in small tubes is great. Have a look on gamekeepa feeds. Best of luck mate.
  15. Meant to say old bill should not get involved. Too much noise from whatever reason is noise polution ( council officer not crimminal) but I am talking loud music etc. In the case of a pup............ It,s just that.. a pup... Tell your neighbours they,ll just have to live with it for a few days.. They ALL very soon settle down... GOOD LUCK.
  16. Some say a wind up ticking alarm clock under a blanket in its bed is good as it resembles the dams heart beat. Personally every pup I,ve ever had , has the T shirt I,ve been wearing that day chucked in it,s bed. They cry mainly for company, then either hungry (I make sure pups have meat before bedtime) or they are cold. 99 times out of 100 the pup feels lonley , so a radio left on low can also help..... I leave radio on low 27/7 in my pigeon loft as it has calming effect.
  17. Very good post mate. Personally start mine on the lamp about 9 month old, but they are whippet(Laguna) and whippet type which do mature slightly earlier than collie or bull crosses I belive. How ever all dogs are individuals and are ready at different ages... some earlier some later than others. Best dog I ever owned ( Jay ) caught his first rabbit at 6 month old and was lethal on them by the yearling stage, but I belive he was an exception to the norm.
  18. Will be plenty big and fast enough for rabbits... no probs there.
  19. Looking or a new lamp, pretty much decided on a Lightforce Striker but was looking at the Nite Stalker 800,000cp. Has any member got or had a nite stalker. Any info most welcom. Thanks in advance.
  20. Sheridan co 2 pistol, looks same as Crossman in previous pictures. Ideal for the job in my opinion.
  21. Clulite Blazer or lazer lite which is better? Any opinnions on either of these lamps, I have had mixed views, Love them or hate them ??? Cheers all
  22. I like to spread butter over it , wrap loose with foil adding chopped onion, 1 whole garlic clove and a good slop of elderberry wine (or any red will do). Cook slowly and open foil for last half hour to brown joint. It,s a winner trust me.
  23. Massive open fields around here. Strong hare population. There are NO easy hares day or night ( pre ban of course) in my oppinnion.
